To stay within warranty do you need both the oil change service and the full maintenance service, or just the full? Because the mileage gap between them means they'd only be 6-8 weeks apart for me which seems silly. I've just ticked over 14k miles since March...

I would've thought the oil service was needed for warranty purposes. Not sure about the maintenance service though?

Chuckled some at these comments. Thanks chaps. Lol

All sorted. Local dealer can get lost... Using my indie garage, £181.74 will do filter too as that's due not long after. So oil change, full I speciation and filters. All genuine parts and able to update cars computer service settings too. Used them for a VW some time ago and were great.

£404 is appalling if you ask me and I've had run ins with dealers before here... Told me they've done work on my car ... Ex's friend who has garage checked the work... Not done xx

So all sorted hopefully.

May look into this independent specialist route in future when a service is due... 3 year PCP but seems pointless going to Audi if someone else can do the same thing cheaper AND also keep the electronic service history and warranty in tact

I trust these far more than my dealers. I used to work for BMW too... (Can I say that on here?! Lol) and I know what goes on in dealership

Check that getting it serviced with Audi isn't one of the terms of the PCP.

Really? I thought that it was now illegal to force people to have a car serviced by a main dealer.

I can understand that a term could be that it has to be maintained if you are handing it back, but they can't dictate where it gets done.

In terms of maintaining a warranty, you are correct (provided OEM parts are used and the schedule is followed to the letter). However, this relates to you contractually maintaining something that isn't yours until you pay for it. Therefore it isn't covered by the EU ruling which related to warranties. It won't be an issue unless you decide to hand the car back at the end of the PCP rather than trade it in. However, it could also impact your trade in offer too. I couldn't say by how much, but I suspect more than you saved on the service.

When I traded my MINI, they did not ask about service history.

My mate also bought a FL A3 and traded in a 61 plate A3. They never asked him about service history or even took a single look at the car.

So, personally I do not think it makes one bit of difference to the trade in these days if the dealer wants to sell you are car.

Problem with the lack of service books for new Audi's is that the Audi system is the only place that registers services. Whilst you may have the paperwork and they can stamp your book some where it may put off others at sale time.

There's a few threads on here about shopping round for better service prices. For a first service which is inspection and oil and filter plus pollen filter the price you were quoted is way too much.

If you haven't had it done give other local Audi dealers a call and negotiate. Its possible to knock a couple of hundred pounds off the quote if your lucky.

That's why I'd prefer Audi as it is official, no question about it

But to be honest I misread the post by Jax, I thought she said her person CAN update the Audi electronic history, but that's not quite what she said.

I know my cousin is taking his Mercedes to a specialist who CAN update the Mercedes electronic history, so maybe similar places can do similar for the Audi electronic history?

Any Idea what's involved for a non franchised garage to update service records electronically?

Absolutely no idea haha

I was surprised when my cousin said he found a Mercedes specialist that can do it. I thought it would be locked down to the official garages only.
