    Hi All.

So I have my first service due and Audi Lincoln have quoted me £437.

Is this about normal for a first service?

It’s oil and filter changes as well as a number of updates (complimentary).

I was considering upgrading to an S4 so maybe I should upgrade before I have to fork out for the first service on my current car?!

That seems really expensive, especially as I know someone that supplied the oil for his B9 S4 and was able to get the first service for around £185 at Aberdeen Audi... I think that it was £230 or something with them supplying everything?

my first 20k service was £360 but that's on the 1.4 petrol. It was at Lincoln Audi a few months ago.

I'd ring Grimsby for a quote I used to find them cheaper and price match.

Ask them to justify that price, ask for a price breakdown. One BMW dealer I contacted was charging me £150 for 6 litres of Castries GTX....I ended up buying the oil myself for about £50. Even £160 odd quid to drain oil and fill it up again is a joke....

That's on a par with what Sytner Audi, Leeds quoted us for our first service (on B9 3.0TDi 218 Quattro avant) however I got them to price match a quote from a local independent Audi specialist, quote was via email confirming service as per Audi schedule, using Audi parts and updating digital service history etc.

If my memory serves me correctly it ended up costing £268 or thereabouts - not sure if Audi still do that price match but worth a quick trawl of their website to check as their initial quoted price is often rather inflated it seems.

What’s the rules for servicing the car through a non Audi dealer, does this void the warranty if you go down the road of the specialist?

No, as long as your invoice shows genuine Audi parts are used. However, if you have finance (pcp, pch) it may specify and require dealership servicing.

Mines on PCP so will need to have a look. I will see if the dealership can price match. I got the speacialist to email me the quote.

Not sure it’s really much cheaper as on long life servicing you’d only need 1 service in 3 years and 30k anyway. Also saves visiting the dealer 3 times! Food for thought.

Do you get any other benefits with this plan? When I was with Ford I used to get free breakdown cover, free MOTs, free puncture repair and 10% of parts. Currently I still have 2 years left of free warranty, servicing and breakdown cover but would like to go on a plan similar to the one from Ford.

With pcp this would only be an issue if you handed the car back and that should not happen you should always have money in the car st the end.

    Ouch.

After seeing some of these prices, I got a price for a full maintenance pack inc tyres, on my new S4 lease.

Came in at £39 a month so took that, seems like a reasonable deal.

Whilst that is a fantastic result :icon thumright:

How the hell can the Dealer justify the original price of £437 ????

Dopping down to £157 should be impossible with a 65% reduction of £280 !

Were they out to fleece you or was it a wrong price in the first place ?

I would be pretty miffed with the Dealer tbh

There really isn’t much that can justify these prices. The labour costs are insane. Go to a independent and get it serviced there with extra oil changes. I wouldn’t dream of leaving my oil in 20k. Obviously if you are lease they might stipulate a Audi garage.

So £1404 over the term. Is that good value? How many services will the S4 need in that time?

Not trying to undermine you here, just want to understand.

Not sure on number of services, I factored in it will need 2 minimum over the 3 years. Lease stipulates Audi services too so won't be cheap judging by some of the prices I've heard for the S4!

Includes all maintenance and tyres for 36k miles.

Everyone will be different with what service costs they can negotiate, how many tyres they use, and if they need to spend out on any maintenance items, but the sums work for me. Not a massive saving compared to pay as you go on items, but still think I'll be quids in overall.

Also have an element of peace of mind in that everything is paid for in £39/month.

If it is any consolation my partner is paying £24 a month for a service plan on her 2018 fiesta over 4years, that's nearly £1200 for a 1.ol 3-cyl ecoboost. yet mine is only £9.56 a month. She's also paying £140 a year for road tax when mine is £30...

Totally agree. I got genuine OEM Quantum 5w30 £27 genuine oil filter £18 and £40 labour costs at a Indy. £85. Our labour costs are much better here in the North of Ireland.

Sorry but it wasn't negotiable, its the same all over the country and my focus was a similar cost as well. Then I went to a A3 which was £18 a month now at £9.56 its going in the right direction and hopefully soon they're be paying me for them to service it ;-)
Cars dealership servicing is rather like printers, huge discounts but the oem consumables are hellishly expensive...

Nope pre-March 2017 that petrol engine had co2 of 119, so Cuke is only paying £30/pa... bargain!
