first service ££££

Ok thank you for that. Yeah Ive had the oil change at 9500 miles so now it's the inspection that is due. So do I need to keep going back every 6 months for either an oil change or inspection?!

No - I don't think you should have to. If you are doing more that 10K/year you should be on the other service schedule. Dealer needs to change the schedule on your car.
It's surprising because I understood that the higher mileage service schedule was the default and the dealer had to change it when you bought it, based on your estimated mileage.

Ok I will give them a call now I understand it abit better. Thanks for the advice

paid £157 for oil change and 1st service. use the audi price match scheme..
What did you have to show them to get them to price match? I've been quoted £375 for a first service and inspection on a 1.4 CoD

I'm due my 3rd service this month. Car is 15 months old and has done 57,000 miles.
2.0 TDi 150 S-Line saloon.

1st two services were £350 at dealer. I'm told the 3rd service is a biggie and to expect £550!!

Anyone know what's involved in the 3rd service?

Oh, and I'm obviously on long life schedule (every 19k - 20k)

I got a written quote from an independent specialist. You basically have to show like for like parts being used. Some dealerships are part of the scheme as some aren't, so check beforehand

I just had my S3 serviced and I think I had the oil change, and the inspection done at the same time. It cost £366 at Victoria Audi. This was after 17,000 and one year. The car was whinging about needing an oil change before the service, then about 50 miles after the service started whinging about needing an inspection. I need to call the dealer to reset the whing-o-meter.

I was quoted £275 by my local dealer (Essex) for the first oil change - £150+ just for the oil - My wife was visiting her sister in Birmingham over Easter so I asked them and they did it for £192 which seemed much more reasonable

If I'd taken the service plan at £20 per month there wouldn't have been enough money to cover the first service at that price - When I asked my friend who's an Audi Master Tech, he told me that service will request parts department reduce their margins etc - Makes a complete mockery of it really

These prices seem ridiculous. I took my A3 in for it's first service (oil change and inspection) last week. When I purchased the car I took the 3 year servicing deal for £399. So I get two oil changes/inspections and one inspection for £399.
But they gave me the invoice anyway and it was £124.91. So that's not too bad.
Milton Keynes Audi.

Handy to know as that is where mine will be going :)

Not a bad price considering I paid £125 for a 1st service on a Mokka diesel last year and that was with works discount!
Hi S32B what did you end up paying for your 1st service oil change at Cheshire Oaks Audi?
They just quoted me £240.

I'll be getting my new S3 in March 2016. When is the 1st service actually due after purchase? I have two new bikes a GSR750 and Ducati Monster 821 and the BOTH needed a 1st service after 600 miles. I was told this was for an oil change as the oil is different for the running in and bedding down period. Is this the same for new cars?

I don't think it's the same with mass production cars? One thing I would say about oil changes is If you do less than 10000 miles a year I would get the service schedule changed from factory set 'long life service'(miles driven/how hard driven) to an annual service(every 12 months).I asked for this as I know these engines don,t like old(thin) oil...

Good call mate, I only do about 6k but definitely wouldn't leave longer than 12 mths for a service ;)

Thanks for the info, so in reality when would my 1st service be due as i probably wont be doing more than about 6 or 7k a year. From what you are saying there is certainly no 600 mile quick oil change to give the engine a thorough flush out.

12 months. Mine has done 5k and I'm told that when the car is 24 months old it will be an inspection service but not another oil change at that stage. I need to check on this to understand how things work going forward.

Just get your dealer to do it every 12 months.Or get them to set the service interval .As for inspection just let the service schedule let you know..

Not had it done yet mate, think it's due around May if I go on the MMI.

NotquiteWelsh paid £167 at Cheshire Oaks though!!!

EDIT* I'll also be getting a quote from Crewe Audi and Liverpool Audi, Cheshire Oaks is the closest, but the others are within a 30 min drive, Crewe is a nice drive to get to from Chester anyway ;)

i decided i would change the oil at 9000 as i drive the S3 quite hard, but service is only required every 18k to keep warranty.

Bought the shell helix from Opie Oils for £45 for 6 Litres, and spent £13 in audi for new oil filter, o ring and new sump plug. Total Cost £58 and took about 2 hours as you have to raise the car to get the under tray off.

My cars in today having its first service at 12,500 miles.

It was originally booked in for an oil change as been having the countdown in the DIS for a few weeks now at £230ish but rather than coming back in 5 months time at 18,000 miles I asked them to just do the 18,000 mile service early at a cost of £350ish (will add exact amount when I collect it) which they were happy to do so essentially I've just moved to an annual service schedule which suits me better.

I understood that the first service (on either regime) is just oil change and check anyway. So I should think that £350 is rather dear anyway.
My first service was free because I took the £350 three year service deal, but it would have been £180.

just had first service at audi dealership at a cost of £252 for what is basically an oil and filter change, does this seem excessive? i waited while the service was carried out which was no more than an hour and was charged an eye watering £137 labour plus vat. Is this about right? a3 1.4 petrol 2013 8700 miles.
thats a **** take id be kicking off about that. i got told family and friends rate for me oil change 150 squid. i dont know anything about dealership costs but if they take the **** ill being doing myself

Hi everyone, picking up my a3 1.2 tfsi sline 15 plate from Audi tomorrow. Car has only done delivery miles 12 I think.. Car will b a year old on 30 of June.. Will it b due to a oil service due to b 1 year old even I expect to have by then only around 3000 miles covered? Could anyone tell m the schedules on my 1.2 petrol engine or what you have go for?
Many thanks

Has anyone tried getting the oil change service done but supplying their own oil?
Mines due in early April. Will be £185 for what is just an oil and filter change. Christ I can remember the days when you could go to various nationals and get a branded oil and filter change for £15!!!

I was wondering if I could save a few bob and supply the oil myself....

It was £347 from what I can tell all they did over and above the oil change was to replace the pollen filter which was about £9.

Oh well that's sorted til 30k miles now or at least this time next year.

Talk us though the maths on this Rob coz I can't help thinking Richard has a point? If you've gotta have another service in 12 mths anyway why not opt for a cheaper first service?

But more importantly the remaps back on ......

I'd be on 18k in about 5 months to have the inspection service and pollen filter change which I couldn't be done with the hassle of so had it done now - total cost of two visits would probably the same. I guess I've switched to annual servicing rather than 18k miles but don't they say 18k or annual whatever happens first ? Will probably amount to the same 2 services during my ownership so I shouldn't be out of pocket.

Also factor in having to have the remap taken off a week before and then put back on you'll see why I went this way.

Quoted £230 today by Audi Birmingham for an Oil Service :astonished:

So, agreed to supply my own oil at a reduced price of £120 which still seems well excessive for 1/2 hour's labour.

Ordered my Oil for around £40 from Opie Oils, so saved a not inconsiderable £70 on Audi prices.

Reading through the thread it seems people have been charged anywhere from £160 up to £250, so do Audi just charge what they can get away with in the area, rather than having published menu pricing?

Also was told they have to put something on the invoice to say the Oil is not covered by warranty - WTF! it is the same spec oil as they would use. I'd like to see them try to argue that one if there was a problem!

If they want to put that on the invoice, make sure they put on the type of oil you supply. That should make it hard to wiggle out of a warranty claim. Probably just speaking ***** to try and get you to use their oil.

Can't believe the range of prices quoted for the first service on here!!

A few have mentioned the fixed price £399 service plan, it seems this is no longer available on the A3??

I'm trying to pin down my salesman on what the costs will be for servicing over my 3 year agreement, with very little progress im afraid.

That particular £399 bargain is no longer available.

That is a damn shame!!

Will see if the dealer comes back with anything. The whole massive variation between dealers (I know they are franchises doing their own thing) stinks IMO, surely the customer has a right to know what they will be paying.
