First oil change

My S5 has 9300 miles on it and before a 600 mile round trip I am going to get the oil change done.
Curious to know what people have paid for this as I know pricing can vary at different dealers. Thanks!

I got mine done at Oldham Audi for FREE due to the fact I had some warranty work about a month before the oil change was due, as a courtesy.

However they did put me on the fixed interval without asking me (I was on the variable from factory). I guess to minimise cost of the free oil change by using the cheap oil.

I only do about 8000 miles a year so the fixed one makes sense really - which is why I haven't complained. It's down on the electronic service record as a variable service though.

Had my oil changed @10k by an independent Audi approved service centre (MUCH cheaper) and cost me £120.00 all in. The service book was recorded electronically as well.

My car goes in for its first service and oil Change due a week on Monday Whilst it’s a TDi and not an S5 I was pleasantly surprised that the total bill,is £395, bearing in mind I have had no other expenses on the car and it is coming up to 19,000 miles.

Far too expensive, my Audi three year plan for fixed servicing is £9.56 a month, which makes all the services cheaper than your one...

Yes as you that mileage then fixed services is correct. However what do you mean by cheap oil? The dealership will use the correct oil as specified...

That’s a good price. On Audi Uk the price is £468 for the 0-3 years, at £26 for 18 months. Did you negotiate a discount?

I clicked the link for the A1 prices (from your link)! Anyone with an S1 doing under 10k per year, £450 for 5 years of servicing is a bargain!

I didn't negotiate at all, this was the figure quoted by Audi finance. I was so surprised I stupidly asked the salesperson to check it again and still he came back with the same figure. The monthly cost is cheaper than my A3 1.4 was and far cheaper than my partners 1.0l fiesta...

Can you tell me Which dealership it was? Just so I can see what I can negotiate when I pick up my A5 on the 1st

No need to rub salt in the wound! All well and good if those offers are available at the time of purchases uh. Despite best endeavours there was no way I was able to get a maintenance pack at such a good rate.

My take is that I have had 18 months of trouble free and enjoyable motoring for what is less than a pound a day.

Remember the new s5 uses 0-20 oil and not standard oil. Shell helix ultra is the factory fill.

Also they only have one oil that they use for fixed or variable long life services.

I've just booked my S5 in for the first oil change (4500 miles in 13 months) at Cheshire oaks Audi (inchape group) for £233, my local dealer (jardine group) quoted £327 for the same service.
They said they would price match if I got a written quote, but why not just give me the same price over the phone, it's not as if I'm asking to match a dubious independent quote?

To the OP what does your servicing indicator display for when it's due? My time countdown was going up as well if I did a rare long journey, I think it first said 30 days to go about 50 days ago, it's only just changed to 1 day overdue now. (Menu - car - left button - servicing and checks if you didn't know where it was)

This reminder was on my "vehicle is taxed" letter, not worth the hassle of not using a dealer for me with a lease.

Cheshire Oaks is my local dealership, DON'T let them wash your car!!! I had the S3 and the A5 off them, they washed the S3 once and made a right mess of the bonnet, took me ages with the DA to sort it out!

When I got the A5 I told them just to take the protective covers off it and leave it alone...which they did :)

I used Unit20 for my S3 service and will use them for the A5 in October https://www.unit20.com/ they charged me £220 for the 2nd service compared with Audi's £360 to £440 quotes! Used genuine parts as well.

Apologies for my delayed reply, this was with my new A4 purchase at Maidstone Audi. But there should be no difference if you've the same engine as mine as the deal is through Audi finance..

Unfortunately we are again talking the UK. However I doubt if it is for free, more than likely they will just place the cost into the price of the car...

Unfortunately there were no offers available on the A5 at launch as these maintenance packs are funded direct by the supplier and not the dealer.

Not too bothered as I didn’t think the price I’m paying is too high considering it’s 19,000 miles / 17 months so £23 pcm!

Isn't the fixed oil cheaper than the variable oil? They moved me to fixed to make the free service cheaper

It's not that it is cheaper it is that the service is less thorough at certain mileages - for examples, say the first service is literally an oil change and filter (they tend to call this a minor service or similar now) whereas on the variable the first service is a minor and major service combined.

Just had my S5 into Bedford Audi for 1st Oil Change = £266.

Suggested doing the 1st Inspection at the same time, as would be £100-odd more to do separately later (nice of them to point this out).

Also, no problems not washing the car - just asked them nicely, once and hey presto, not washed.

How many miles does your s5 have out of interest?

Just ticked over 17000 on way back from service.

I’ve just had a quote for £352 for first oil change on the S5. This is a ridiculous cost

Going to an independent would this affect warranty?

JonChalk

Milton Keynes quoted me £379. Bedford, just 10 mins further away in the other direction £266. By the time they'd added the 1st Inspection in, I got both cheaper than MK wanted for oil change alone.

Guess who's getting my business from now on.

Depends on your financing;
If you paid "cash", so actually own the vehicle, provided the Indy use OEM, or equivalent standard parts, then the Bloc exemption rules mean "no".
If you're on PCP or lease, (or maybe even less than a %age thru a more normal HP) it's a bit trickier, as they *may* have clauses in contract that say "should" or "shall" use Audi servicing.
These mean different things; Shall means no choice, contractually you must use Audi. Should means be prepared for a fight if you use anyone else, but not contractually obliged to do so. I've seen no-one post on a number of forums where they have said "stuff it, I'll give Audi a miss" on a finance deal - most (myself included) just can't be bothered having that argument later on.

Cheers. Just gave Bedford a call and they are charging £266, and two updates for the car need doing apprantly. There service over the phone was good. So looks like I’ll be taking a trip there.

£40 cheaper than an Audi specialist too

Just paid £205 for my A5, but it's not the S5, just a 2.0 petrol.
