Currently on 12,500 miles. The car has not had anything done apart from 2 front tyres last week. The dash is saying I need an oil change in 300 miles.

I've booked in for the oil next Monday at Shrewsbury Audi who said they will also do an 'inspection'. I asked what this was and they said checking levels, pads, etc. (All of which I'm quite capable of checking myself).

For all the above, they've quoted £367!? I know.....

Do I just ask them to do the oil and leave the inspection? Then get a friend with Vag com to turn the inspection light off when it comes on? How does it normally work when you reach this mileage? Better to go to a decent garage instead or do I need Audi to do all the work if on PCP?

What do you guys recommend?

Stick with Audi for warranty and personally i would change oil every 6k.

Based on other threads on here, first service (oil change and insp) should be around £200 - £250. Some get it for just under £200.
I would phone around. Best to stick with Audi because of warranty. A couple of hundred quid would seem cheap if anything goes wrong.

Hi Vins,
After discussion on here, I have decided to go with good quality and known Indy at £125 inc vat for first oil change and inspection, warranty legally intact if OEM parts used and invoiced correctly to show that. The service indicator will be reset by the indy and possible they are able to record the details on the Audi electronic service log
Be aware though that your goodwill from Audi, if ever needed may be at risk. Others have benefited greatly from the goodwill aspect but it depends if you think the high Audi service prices are worth the gamble that you may need it, and that they will in fact contribute. Only time will tell but good luck with whatever you decide.

To keep the cost down a little bit you could buy your own oil for the service.I'm sure you can get it cheaper than Audi charge for it..:friends:
As for Shewsbury Audi???????? Avoid them like the plague.......

Thanks all, I will definitely get my own oil. It's the inspection I don't understand the cost. Will ask them what the oil change alone is.

@pburv why avoid Shrewsbury?

The inspection check is another word for the health check, my car was serviced with roughly the same mileage as yours, but my oil change /service interval was set at 9000 miles,Audi price promise applies so phone around or as folks have said buy your own oil save some dosh

I've been quoted £247 for first oil change on S3.

TX.

Edit - FYI when they changed the oil recently on the RS3 they also printed out a scrap of paper that has all the warranty work, service history etc printed on it and they disposed of the previous version. That appears to be the new written record rather than having a book all stamped up and it simply gets updated each time you visit Audi.

I have done my first Oil Change service at Audi Crewe for £159 (and 10% voucher they gave me when I installed the Navigation system with them) so £143.. Very nice service. Changed the schedule on my car to Fixed..as i do less than 10k a year. My car have has done the service only with 3900 miles on the clock..
Next full service will be £309, it will be next year by this time.. and then I will buy a service pack at £299 that includes 1 oil service and 1 full service..

This is how i have planned to do it.. as i intend to keep my car every year a service one year oil change and the next one full service..

I hope that helps...

Hi mate..
Regarding Shrewsbury Audi.....
I bought an A3 Black Edition Quattro off them two years ago...I went on holiday the day after picking up the car so really had no time to give it the once over..Any way when I returned from the airport with my car I had a very nasty experience with the car not stopping at a roundabout:scared2:
When I got home I checked the brakes and noticed that they were badly scored and also the pads were very(I mean very!) badly worn...Clearly their pre delivery inspection was not carried out even though I had written evidence that they did...You would think this was the last of my so called bad luck with the car?............Wrong......In the following 12 months it had over £5000 worth of warranty work done to it which included disc and pads all round/new coils/new turbo/new prop shaft/new front wheel bearings and a new front bumper(smart repair which was part of the original deal) for some reason after two attempts of rectifying couldn't get sorted..Ok apart from the hassle of taking the car in so many times and picking up so many courtesy cars(neighbour actually thought i was reviewed Audi cars for a living)the first 12 months didn't cost me anything...........The final straw! two months outside their standard 12 month warranty the engine went 'pop'........Luckily my local dealer North Wales Audi were very helpful in getting my claim sorted with Audi UK and I managed to get 90% goodwill gesture in getting the engine replaced............So I ask you .......
Would you trust a car dealer who would offer a car for sale like mine?(and lie about the so called pre delivery inspection)....

Thanks all.

I've had a quote for £150 oil change from a none Audi dealer but they are a partner with BOSCH and specialise in VW, AUDI, PORSCHE ETC.

Not sure what to do - will try other dealers I think. I've not warmed to North Wales Audi @pburv they never seemed very welcoming but if their service is cheaper, then I will go there.

£150 sounds like good deal...Provided they use approved parts then it won't effect your warranty..As for brand loyalty all I will say is if you plan on keeping the car for a few years then you might want to consider getting it done at the dealers...but if you are on a pcp deal? and are only keeping it till it's completed then I will consider getting the service at an indy...Hope this input helps ...:friends:
ps As for dealer experience etc then i'm afraid it is down to a bit of pot luck..The salesman I always talk to at North Wales Audi is a great guy his name is Oliver James...I find also the service manager Peter Jones is a very helpful and knowledgeable guy..He was the one who told me about the rear top mounts technical bulletin on the 'mag ride' equipped A3's...

My cars in tomorrow first oil change an filter by an Audi approved local dealer. They are called A for Audi and can log my service onto the database so warranty is fine. Phoned Audi just to confirm which they did.
£90 + VAT
