Hi guys, recently bought an S3 2010 sportback auto. I am completely new to the modding scene and would like to get some advice on what mods I can get done. I’ve checked out remapping and that seems pretty standard but after stage 1 it gets rather confusing with all of the physical upgrades. I’d appreciate a list of parts that I can get to upgrade the performance of the car as well as where I can get them from/fitted. Looking for changes to the engine/turbo, exhaust etc. Cheers in advance.

Basics are:

intake of some sort, most people go for the revo one,

high pressure fuel pump upgrade, can either upgrade internals with autotech internals for around £300 or buy a complete new loba pump for £650

Turbo back down pipe/exhaust - BCS is a favourite here, over a grand

Then a remap of some sort, APR is leading the way with flash on maps but r tech leads the way for custom tuned on rolling roads

And there you’ll have a stage 2+ car with around 380hp which is absolutely awesome.

And then you can get into the handling side of it, either springs and shocks upgrade, just lowering springs or all out on coilovers depending on your preference

It all depends on your budget as how far you want to go. The best bang for your bucks is a stage 1 remap. No hardware changes and a trip to RTech in Nuneaton will get you sorted. Depending on your mileage you may want a carbon clean and an injector service. They can do that at the same time as a remap.
Stage 1+ adds an uprated fuel pump before your remap. Stage 2+ will include a cold air intake, with Revo being highly regarded. Probably the best exhausts are made by BCS but they are not cheap. You will need an RS4 fuel valve and some BKR7EIX spark plugs. Not forgetting good oil like Millers Nanodrive. Add in an uprated intercooler to keep it cool in the summer and to remove any induction restriction and you may be seeing 380+ BHP and maybe 410ft lbs torque at RTech. Budget for a gearbox remap too.
Stage 3 includes all of the above with maybe a hybrid turbo and an uprated low pressure fuel pump. Maybe RS3 8v injectors too. The cost starts going crazy as you may want to include suspension and braking modifications too. A big turbo conversion is quite specialist but the cost can run away with you as you would need a fully forged engine. 550 - 600 BHP is achievable but very costly. Probably better to buy an RS3 in the first place!!
It’s a slippery slope but these cars can be made to go very well in deed.

Maintenance first!

Take a look at this post https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/preventative-maintenance-audi-s3-bhz-cdl.341180/

Generally, if you’re unsure if these have been carried out and there is no documentation in the handbook (or receipts) then it’s probably worth doing.

With respect to mods - it’s not all about the tune, stopping and handling is important too.

Take a read of these (start to finish then you’ll realise what you've let your self in-for!):

There’s not many of these active build threads running anymore but these are a couple that document the ongoing journey.
