i have a 2000 s3 210bhp model with green cotton panel filter (also smoothed the inside of the air box as i was told it makes the air flow turbulent), forge dump valve , and stage 1 remap and looking to stage 2 in the near future. which would you guys recomend to be the best value and quality from the the following i.e blueflame, pipewerx, xs power, forge etc

    turbo pipe?

    3" downpipe and sportscat?

    other turbo related hoses?

im not the brightest whan it comes to turbo engines as this is the first ive owned so any help advice would be great. basically im tring to find the best perforamnce mods for the money.

    many thanks gary :sos:

I had a 3 inch downpipe and de cat fitted. it made a good diffrence. I would also fit a silicone turbo intake pipe ( offten called a TIP ) as it will stand you in good sted for other upgrades.
Your next option would probably be a front mount intercooler of some kind. All this and a good remap will see you right. However, much more and the clutch will be at its limits. bare that cost in mind when spending.

My down pipe and decat are pipe worx
However it didnt fit straight on and sat too low. it took a good freind of mine and his tig welding skills to sort this out.

My pipe work ( silicones ) are forge and i think they fit/ work very well but... i havent seen any others realy so i couldnt say forge are better. I know from looking at the time that some other brands are cheaper.

forge tip ( turbo intake pipe) is a popular choice.

SFS is the make, TIP = Turbo Intake Pipe.
A derestricted MAF is one that has had the mesh removed - I've got a "how to" if you want it, just PM your e:mail address - but some will say that it's not a good idea - but it's youir car your choice ;)
You should be using a recirc valve not a dump valve.
My valve is on the RHS of the engine (looking from the front), at the back (A3 mind) - a relocated valve is normally moved to the front so that it stays cooler - this preserves the life of the valave and means the recirced air is cooler when it re-enters the system.

p.s: an air-box that makes the air more turbulent is not a good idea - the fins are there for a reason: to ceate a better air flow.

remember, there's no such thing as a silly question - if you don't ask, then you wont find out!!

Your original question was about performance and value for money, so you should be aware that changing the exhaust won't get you anymore power on an S3, just a different noise. The standard one is better than most give it credit for and I've yet to see any proven gains from swapping. As for silicone pipework, well it looks pretty.

With the exhaust... my car deffinatly "spooled up " better. And it does seem to pull better, This is all personal feeling but... i would say it has release some power changing it,
The other boost hoses ( like in the picture ) may not be needed to be honest but i saw the full set and as i was at a show they offered me a good price,
If the Diverter valve ( dump valve in your case ) should sit almost under the 4 rings of the audi badge on the engine cover, If its been relocated then chances are it will be some where near the bottom right corner of the engine cover,

Its worth bearing in mind, If your going to change the down pipe and high flow cat/decat i would realy recomend doing this before any mapping goes on, After i fitted mine i found out the 1.6 bar of boost it was set at before the fitting turned into nearly 2.6 bar ! im guessing the map was asking too much of the old set up so when it was less restrictive the turbo could push on to make more boost?? i dont know realy but its a good way to kill a turbo.

Lots of people have fitted new TIPs - what you have to do is check that it will fit your engine - or can be adapted to fit your engine.

If you look at the TIP that Dani fitted (pics in the thread that I posted a link too in my post above) to his APY engine, I think you'll see that there are fewer ports?

Was there a reason for the triple post - cos it looked like the same TIP in every pic to me?!! - or are you becoming a post whore?!!!
