Cant find them anywhere, yet can find them for Mk5 R32 which I am assured is the same set up so that will fit...

Why cannot I not find them?

Think ill be going with Brembo HP2000 instead

You do know that these pads don't work until they are hot don't you? They are intended for track use only.

Not from what I have read.... either way I have opted for Brembo

Never had any problems with cold bite on Ferodo DS2500s on my car either, but found them pretty shabby on a trackday.

Strange, Trackdays they worked well for me.

Likelihood is that as your Westfield is way lighter than the S3,it wasn't working the pads anywhere near as hard.

What I found was exactly what DaveB had predicted, and by the end of a trackday the pads had spread themselves all over the discs.

I swapped to Mintex 1155 pads after, and found those much better, before swapping the front brakes to an AP kit,and the rears to Forge's 4pot kit.

Yep, that must be it. I took the DS pads off the car after a near miss on the road last winter, now have Mintex 1144 and they are just perfect on the road or track, they squeal on the road as well :smile new:.
As you're a trackday slag as well, here's some tyre porn, I just bought the latest R888R's

Very nice.

I'm still waiting for those to come out in 245 x 40 x 18...

Do you find them a lot better than the R888s?

I haven't used them yet, not had a trackday since I bought them a few weeks ago. Hopefully they'll be on the car at Snetterton on 5th Oct. providing it don't rain much.

You can get 235/40/18 , they'll be ok.

I need all the tyre area I can get!.....TC will still cut in well up the gears.

You can buy the old 888's in 245 from German suppliers such as Oponeo, they are cheaper over there and still legally sold in Germany.
I think you have gone over the top with the S3 power upgrades  Or are you trying to keep up with the Skoda Yeti with 500bhp?

Interesting, I was looking at getting the Ferodo pads (old favourite due to low, light coloured dust) as my current ones have started squeeling when lightly braking. I haven't tracked her yet, bt this is planned for near future.

Is the light braking squeel "normal" as I hear nowt when braking normal/hard??

I never had any squealing from the Ferodo or Mintex pads I've used.

Think twice about using Ferodo DS2500s if you intend to do trackdays.
I found they rapidly overheated and basically left deposits all over the discs,as predicted by DaveB.

Urgh...thats poo then.

What would be good for pottering around town with the odd pit of legal and non-legal spirited driving?

I dont really want there to be warm up issues if in town :(

Has anyone got any experience with the HP2000 Brembos, they are meant to be very good from what i have read, some people say as good as ds2500 but i am not sure, they are half the price too

Are DS2500's a good replacement for standard pads if you don't do track days? My standard pads seems to fade after a couple off hard uses at round about.

For road use,I had no real issues with them.

The problem for me is comparing the stock setup,to the VWR kit,and now to the AP kit.

Each is better than the last, and the AP kit is a huge leap forwards.

Fade on the stock brakes is a problem, but more related I think to a heavy car,and relatively poor calipers and rotors, whereas the much larger AP kit, plus far better 6pot calipers, makes braking far less of a lottery.

bare in mind the ds2500 are not road legal, it would bother some people

Loooooool...you what??

Are they for track use only??

Is that due to lack of "cold" bite??

This has been an issue in a lot of forums.

I have to admit I haven't had these on my car for a while,so I'm not up to date on the legality or otherwise.

There seems to be a lot of debate over the regulations, which state that anything which is +/- 15% outside the performance of the OEM compound is not legal, ignoring the fact that something more than 15% better would be a good thing...
