These popped up after my CEL came on, been cleared by my mechanic, and we are now both investigating what the codes stand for and what are they??? My car is an Audi A6 estate, 4.2 Quattro 2001. Thanks guys.

No, the P indicates it's SAE "P-codes" which is Secondary air injection flow to low for bank 2 and 1 (according to the bentley manual)
17819/P1411/005137 - Ross-Tech Wiki
(VAG code for P1423 is 17831)

So a common error. Don't know why though, mine used to have it but it suddenly cleared istself and haven't come back since a longer trip (2 x 600 km).
The function of secondary air is to add fresh air into the exchaust during cold start so the extra fuel can be burnt in the cat's and help them ignite faster.

Had the fault cleared a couple of weeks ago, but the yellow ignition light has just come back. Can anyone tell me what parts (in lamens terms!) I need to buy and rough costs?? Thankyou.
