https://www.whatcar.com/news/car-de...tart-selling-and-delivering-cars-again/n21343 Anyone else seen this article?? Seems to be directed at English dealerships, not sure though if it includes Scottish ones? Would be great if we could actually get our hands on our ‘new’ car, or at least a delivery date
Hope it goes your way Ian, must be frustrating. I’m all for erring on the safe side with the lockdown etc, but If they deliver in a safe manner I don’t see many issues. I suppose you’d need to ensure all the surfaces in the car were “decontaminated” after it was received.
I am in a similar position....my new car was delivered to the dealer on Tuesday 24th March which was the day that they shut. Had all this not happened then I would have picked it up on Saturday the 28th and so avoiding an additional £330 to pay due to increased VED which came in on 1st April. My trade in price is guaranteed for April, but there is probably zero chance of the dealership opening up before then. Personally I am not interested in contactless delivery and would not entertain buying a car like this. Also I am not willing to pay a penny more than the original agreed price, so unless my dealer is willing to be very accommodating after the lockdown(whenever that may be), it's looking like I will be cancelling my order and having my deposit returned.
Totally agree about the car having to be decontaminated, and proper procedure followed or I just wouldn’t accept. Just stressful about trade in price for our q5 potentially dropping, etc,. Dealership advised us bmw would be picking up any extra monies concerning extra ved payment due, as our car arrived before 1 April. How much truth there will be to this in reality ? Who knows? Overall just want everyone concerned to be safe and well, reducing risk where possible in all honesty. Really just desperate to get our car, which must sound selfish know, but it’s all the whole potential financial fall out too
Looks great Ian, how was handover carried out? Another different motor to look out for on my travels once we’re less restricted. More pics please, especially inside. Happy motoring!
Car was delivered this morning on a trailer direct from dealership, steering wheel, gear leaver, carpets, seats and handles all covered in plastic. Not allowed in the car for a minimum of 3 hrs, and same for our car - no-one to be in it for 3hrs prior to pick up. All went well, really chuffed with the car. Peeing of rain here so will go out later and take some more photos
Weathers fine here just a few miles away, could’ve got it delivered here and I’d have taken care of it
Very nice! I’m sure a wee blast up Glendevon could be classed as essential Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like that Ian. Good to see BMW still doing model specific trim, like the door sill plates, something Audi have been cutting back on for a while now. They do penny pinch on certain things (eg mine doesn’t have rear Door sill plates) but not to the same extent. Love the colour. PS now got the wife interested in one now she’s seen yours! (Car that is!!)
That's a great colour. I ordered a misano blue 1 series in Feb, no idea when its going to reach the UK, all BMW can say at the moment is that it could be delayed between 2 and 4 months. Hopefully once production starts again they'll have a better idea. Only consolation is that it should be towards the front of the queue.
Where did you order it from we ordered ours on 4th of February it arrived on 24th March delivered to our address 15th may it was ordered through Douglas park Kyle street Glasgow excellent service from them.
4th of Feb to the 24th of March is fast delivery, you must of dropped on an un allocated production slot. I'm in the NW, the car was ordered from Williams in Bolton, at the time they said it would be a Q2 production which suited me fine as my A3 PCH ends in July. Technically I guess its still possible to get the car by July as originally agreed but my gut feel is it will be later. Not a huge issue on the scale of things.
