hi all, my S3 saloon PDK , misano red, 35k, FSH

the car isnt being used much and had a major service in march. With situation at work changing and i'll probably work only 3 days a week in the office, i have a family car to use as well as a boxster that i bought last year as a toy. Dealership said they would offer 16k, autotrader shows a lot of dealers selling for 18k but obviously they need there cut.

just wondered if you thought it was fair, its not on finance

plan was to sell the original diamond cut wheels with the car and then sell the BBS wheels

For me selling it at the dealership cuts down on the hassle factor or private buyers

Can’t comment on whether the £16k is a fair price as I’ve not really looked at A/S3 prices in a few years now.

Dealers definitely simpler than private buyers but when you are absolutely ready to sell try places like WBAC, Arnold Clarke and I think Vauxhall website for a value just to see where they come out in ballpark numbers?

There could even be someone on here who maybe able to get a price for you.

I read someone on here suggesting filling in the sell option on autotrader to get a good estimate. Sounds like a good idea .

thanks, just tried that now... not far off

We've crunched the numbers for you
Our recommended selling price* is:

* Price:

Based on our valuation of £16,990.

That's at least £2200 more than part-exchange or quick sale websites.

* We've added some wiggle room for you.

I knew there had to be a Porsche connection somewhere. :D

Dealer trade in prices(or cash buying) as you say factor in a mark up for their profit, but sometimes this can seem unreasonably high. Generally the more prestigious the marque the higher the anticipated profit margin.
The easiest negotiation I have ever had was when I was buying a new car that commanded full retail price regardless of where you bought it, so all that had to be agreed was my trade in price.....which at the second dealer I visited was significantly higher than I was expecting, so I bit his hand off while remaining outwardly calm. :)

On a side note, I thought it curious that you were asking for opinions on value but didn't mention the age of your car.
Investigation revealed it is a March 2014 car.
