Put the car in for it's MOT this morning. Garage just called to say that it's failed on the handbrake. They said the failure point is 15% and mine is showing 14%. They said it could just be that the caliper needs a clean but won't know until they have a look.

I had the rear brake discs and pads replaced just over a month ago at another garage so don't really want to have to pay the MOT centre to fix something that maybe should have been done at the other garage. The drivers side was rubbing like hell for about 2 weeks after the other garage did the brakes, it has since quietened down though. The brakes feel fine, stop fine and the handbrake is the same as ever although I don't notice much what with being DSG.

I told the MOT place to just leave it and I would go back to the original garage. What do you guys think? Is this the right thing to do?

Yeah go back to the garage and explain what's happend. If they value your custom they will adjust it. Plus you four about 10 days to get it mot'd again

Spoke to the (audi specialist) garage that did the brakes and they said it's most likely the caliper needs replaced.

Looks like another expensive month with this car. Balls!

ive got a standard rear caliper somewhere if it is that ?

depends on what size your rear discs are it it will fit ?

might just be that the pads that were put in are to tight and need filing down

I would go straight back to to original suppliers, they obviously haven't done the job to recommended original specifications, you shouldn't lose on this one, not at all.
