Faded top of DIS when weather is warm - anyone able to fix?

Noticed it last year, when the weather is warm the top of my DIS doesn't display. I believe it is the solder which connects the LCD screen. Audi will try and charge me for a whole new cluster which I'm not going to do. Anyone local (County Durham/Newcastle/North Yorkshire) area fixed this before and can do mine?
