I was telling this story to my lad when he asked what tuning options were out there.
He wondered if Audi had some kind of a rolling algorithim code or if the ecu was being altered over the connect services in an attempt to defeat any 'emulator' type boxes ?

Lol judging by how bad the app is then it would be flagging up a lot of false positives.

Imagine going into Audi and they say ‘excuse me sir, the connect services have detected a sensor has been unplugged and it also says all your doors are opened’ hmmmm ok……..

I managed to get it installed in about 15-20 minutes start to finish. I had a handbrake error flag up while fitting but when I started the car it was gone. I imagine that was because I left the plugs disconnected for a while whilst I looked through some instructions and stuff.

The sound change is very noticeable under load and when revving and I really like the ability to open them at will.

I believe if you leave the door open and ignition off for 20 mins you don't get errors.

I rushed mine due to weather so ended up with a bunch of errors which I cleared with obd11.

I returned the remote control one because I would probably lose the remotes. I liked the oem(ish) nature of the CB2.

I took the earth off first like I saw. So no idea. Maybe just my luck.

I had a ruck of alarms going off but I didnt leave the car to go back to sleep with the door open.

Also for what it is worth some of the multi plugs did not have the locking pin engaged, they would never come apart as they still click together

I must admit the ASR controller is a big part of me bonding a little more with the car, it does give the car some of the character that is missing with it being so quiet as std

Did anyone manage to remove the valve motors and have them fixed somewhere at the back of the car so that when you install a cat back or aftermarket rear box, the car registers the valves as being connected?
if so , does any error codes show up from the motors being out of the actual exhaust and running just like that with no limits?

I don’t know the answer I’m afraid, but a lot of aftermarket exhausts come with valves anyway, so unless you’re specifically planning on removing the valves completely then it shouldn’t be a problem.

I don’t know how the valve motors are attached on this system but on my S4 they were very easy to remove them from the valve mechanism which would allow you to try it out and see before getting an exhaust.

Just unbolt them.

Here’s one I had off earlier this year.

Works ok while unbolted and connected, you could cable tie it up into the chassis.

Problem is i don't have my car until mid of December or beginning of Jan and i don’t have any obd scanner tool to check for fault codes after.

Why only these options? Agree it’s hard to tell from YouTube. There’s a guy on insta with the Miltek, it does sound much better from his vids. Can’t remember if he’s on here or not. However IMO (purely from trying to listen via YouTube) the German 3.5 inch systems sound the best. Bull-x and BTM.

I guess it’s all personal preference but I’ve heard good things about the Miltek ‘race’ system. No real experience of the German 3.5” versions mentioned though.

For me I think that the perfect setup for me would be a sports cat downpipe with OPF delete and the RS Performance system from there back. It’s just a hunch as I’ve not heard a setup like that yet.

So I’ll jump on this thread..

I’m running a Miltek Race System on my 22’ Vorsprung Saloon.

The sound is impressive and getting better by the mile, there are pops and burbles but the noise deadening in the car pretty much removes that if you’re driving.

I would post a video but it isn’t letting me.

I have kept my OPF (for now)

And removing them will be classed as illegal john, insurance will be void in any claim if they check in depth, and insurance won’t class this as a proper mod because it’s illegal to remove OPF’s in the UK.

BTM, Akrapovic and Armytrix sounds the best. Interestingly Capristo sounds poor.

Personally I think aftermarket exhaust is a waste of time especially if running into thousands if you don’t care about warranty. OPF delete, ASR + Audi Sports Exhaust probably is the best setup.

I agree about the suggested best setup, it’s what I’ve said to folks since I fitted the ASR module.

To give my experience of warranty and exhaust systems though, I’ve never had an issue with the dealerships approving warranty claims because of an exhaust. My last Audi was a B9 S4 with full Miltek system and it went in for some gearbox work as well as a water sensor and they never even mentioned it. That was two different dealerships that did the work as well.

Unless it’s affecting something it’s directly related to (and apart from the actual exhaust I can’t imagine that would be the case with any other components) then I believe that they still have to honour your warranty. They might try to claim something like turbo issues are caused by it but even that’s a push.

Adding further to that there has been no publicised posts of claims been denied to due the removal of OPF…

What we all know is that if you have a modified car and you don’t declare mods such as air intakes/aftermarket exhausts, wheels and the insurance finds out they have the right to reject the claim but even then, there is many well documented claims that gone to the FOS and said complaints upheld if the insurer would have insured the car if the mods in question were declared at the time resulting in revised payout based on premiums had those declarations been made, same with not declaring points.
