My mums '56' A4 1.8T S Line Cabriolet has done 7500miles and hasn't been driven hard, but the front tyres are nearly worn down to the 1.6mm wear indicator. Is this excessive?

Seems excessive to me.

Our 1.9 TDI 130 wore the fronts down to 4mm after 8k. That was mainly due to the power delivery of the diesel and a heavy front end.

My 57 reg' 2.0T S-Line went through it's front tyres (continental) in a similar mileage to your Mum's; at the time I though it was poor :faint:

The replacement Goodyears have lasted better, but they too will need replacing (front) soon and have only done 11k miles. Just a function of the 18" wheels, nose heavy front wheel drive car I guess...

Still, strengthens the case for an A5 2.0T Quattro Cab IMO :icon_thumright:

I thought 9000 miles was bad on a set of Pirelli PZero Rossos on my RS4, 7500 on a 1.8T cab seems OTT to me.
