I've not been round this way for a while but thought I should pop by and say hello to some old friends. Hope you're all well?

No longer driving an Audi, but not far from it - Mk7 Golf R these days! (Parked in Glen's spot)

Still got that bugging temptation to get another boggy blue S3 :)

    Hi Chris!

Great to see an old name pop up again :) I spent many an hour reading about the adventures you and Glen had ~ 10 years ago now!

The scene and tuning is SO different now to how it was back then, your 330bhp back in the day was so exceptional, and now half the forum seem to have that much! It's crazy how times have changed.

Hope you're liking the Golf R, it looks brilliant.

Don't stay away so long next time :racer:

Good to see you guys are still around! Although not completely surprised :D

Prawn, JBS were coming out with much bigger numbers by the time I sold the S3, but I've always thought that it's just daft to try and get there with an 8L - chassis, transmission, engine, etc. are all too limiting to make it worth the money needed. The GT28RS was just about right, but in hindsight, I'd just drop a 3.2 in there now!

I've not seen Ess_Three Glen for years. I'm working overseas just now and don't get to keep in touch with the same crowd anymore.

The Golf is good, but to be honest it's a little bit too competent. To the point that it's actually a little bit boring. Not a patch on the RS4, but probably as quick. I'll also admit to a few dodgy years of Volvo XC60 ownership too; I had to go for something completely different after the RS as everything else is a comparison, and not as good :D

Have I really been a member here for 10 years...

Nah, 3.2 is a big heavy, expensive lump of pig iron to get good power from, sound good though.

Hi Chris, always loved your Noggy S3. I've still got mine, 12+ years of ownership now, but sadly she's looking a little tired.
Here's a blast from your past....

The 1.8 20v isn't exactly the most refined engine in the world and beyond a remap the diminishing returns hit hard. And turbo lag is no fun!

Jason, if I were to do it all again it'd still look exactly the same! Only thing I'd change would be some smaller lighter wheels for track/fun - and maybe strip the interior properly and chuck in a pair of Recaro Pole Positions. Those 19's looked good but in all honesty they were a little too heavy and you could feel the extra weight when turning into the corners. The S3 was always a little fat boy and dropping a few hundred kg's would make a huge difference; probably more than chasing power figures.
