ESP Light On

Hi all,

the ESP light started to come on intermittently a few weeks ago but now it's always on.
I don't have access to VAG Com, are there any cheap / quick checks I can do before taking the car to a garage?

Mine did a few weeks ago it was the brake switch, the new one is the upgraded version.
