Earlier on today, all of a sudden after a refuel the ESP light came on, and the DSG stopped shifting up until it hit redline. Moments later the ABS light also came on! So after a quick search it became apparent that the most likely cause of this would be a rear wheel speed sensor. Just checked with VCDS, turns out it's the rear left sensor. Along with this the Auto came back with the following fault -

18255/P1847/006215 - Please check DTC Memory of ABS Controller

Will this be linked to the failing speed sensor?

Also after running the scan and whilst clearing faults, some grinding noises could be heard from the gearbox with the engine not running but ignition on, these went as soon as I turned ignition off and back on?

Thanks!

Hi there
Just wondering how you get on with your issue, a week ago my DSG box on A3 2.0tdi sport stopped changing up unless reaching red on the Rev countre, today abs and traction control light came on ,and miraculously the DSG problem disappeared and started changing normally, after a while I pulled in to get some fuel ,and after starting the engine both abs and traction light disappeared and same problem was returned. I would appreciate to hear from you regarding this matter. Kind regards.

Please note, my car is an early 08( May)

It as a faulty abs wheel speed sensor, scanning with vcds will tell you which one.

Hi it's almost defo the rear speed sensor as I have had 2 of these go with the exact same issues you're having. Hope it's not the fins that have gone on the bearing as they can crumble with age. Good luck!

An Audi specialist garage checked my car and and after scanning found no faults, do you think I should just go ahead and change all or some abs sensors? ,your advice is greatly appreciated. Regards

Is the gearbox still acting up? The problem can come and go when the sensors on its way out. Where are you based? It seems strange that Audi couldn't diagnose which sensor it is.

This is an Independent specialist based in Glasgow, his diagnostic machine didn't pick up anything, the box acts up when "abs and traction control" warning lights are "not on "and the gearbox is absolutely fine when warning lights "are on" , very unusual.

Hi there
Many thanks to you, problem solved, it was near side rear sensor causing the mistery, disconnected one by one and tryed them and bingo. I really value your help. Thanks again.
