HI all,

I have just changed the brake pedal switch after my ESP and ABS light stayed on.

The trouble is the ESP and ABS light are still on any ideas.

Car booked in with AUDI next week....£75.00 just to look at the car.....help

A4 Cabriolet 3.0 sport 2003

Do the brake lights both work ok? I've seen the error occur with dodgy bulbs too.

Its impossible to guess without a scan really, was it a scan that told you the switch was dodgy?

I haven't had a scan, I took an informed guess and replaced it. Only took 10 Mins

I live in Gosport near Portsmouth. Anyone know any independants

Take it to JKM (near Portsmouth Audi) they are excellent and £45 and hour
So the lights were on before you replaced the switch, so likely the switch replacement is irrelevant. Could be so many things, ABS wheel sensors, ABS control module. If you get a scan and it can't communicate with the ABS module then it's probably a duff module. They can be repaired for around £130, but could be something far more straightforward

This came up in my friends a4. The esp light wouldn't go off so a new steering wheel angle sensor was fitted and ESP light went out. However the esp won't light up again when you press the button.

The abs light use to beep 3 times and as far as I know the abs sensor was replaced. I couldn't make sense of the VCDS SCAN i took of it. I'll post his scan up later.

same happened to mine, had the tracking done and it was so far out i had to get the angle sensor reprogrammed as well.

i live in scotland polar but i'll be in portsmouth for 3 days next week.

I tried resetting my friends steering angle sensor in VCDS. It wouldn't allow me to do it so he bought a new one.

you can't clear the fault code, you have to reprogram the sensor with 3 5 digit codes(engine, gearbox and brakes if memery serves). you need to have the codes before you reprorame the sensor. same goes for everytime you unplug it as well.

but then again it might not be the steering angle sensor.

This was his scan. Car drains the battery the whole time too

He put a new battery in and it still drains somewhere. Like he cannot leave it for over 2 days because it wont start.

Getting back to this, he had the esp and the abs light on. Esp doesn't light up now when the button is pressed even with the new steering angle sensor. Maybe its a new SWCM is required?

Abs beep was cleared by replacing a sensor

Hi i have similiar probs..if the diagnostic gives faults:
01317 - Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285) 49-00 - No Communications
00466 - Control Module for Steering Column Electronics (J527) 49-00 - No Communications

does it mean steering column sensor module is faulty??
I have many probs, revolving mainly around the traction control, brake switch , climate control problem.. also total closure, computer, key fobs not working and alarm flasihng indicators manically when battery connected(have had to disconnect)
