Right. First proper post on here so be nice ;) Picked up a 53 plate a3 2.0fsi last weekend, and it's been an absolute diamond apart from 2 things:
The cruise control doesn't work, and the big problem:
On a trip over the weekend, the EPC light came on. It's flickered a couple of times but only ever at very low revs, on one stretch of road in my village. It's now on and staying on. The only symptoms are struggling to start warm, if it's been running less than approx. 20 minutes beforehand, and the occasional slight stutter, almost as if the throttle connection is cutting out for a fraction of a second.
Apart from that, the car drives perfectly!
I'm planning on taking it to a VAG specialist on my next day off, but does anyone have an idea of what could be causing it?
Quick snap of the beast when I picked it up: https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd...3_10154272916085207_3149254428916372381_n.jpg
Thanks!!

Hey,

Can't help on the latter I'm afraid but what's the cc issue, switches straight off after you select a speed by any chance? If so it's governed by little trip switches on the brake and clutch pedals, which break down as they age so that's a good place to start I'd say..

As far as I know the cc just doesn't function at all!! I'll have a look into the switches at some point.

Could the EPC light and stuttering be caused by the engine speed sensor? Try that mate.. I think it's positioned just below the oil filter?!

Just a thought on the cruise - the stalk has to be in the 'on' position which doesnt give any indication that is on. I think its either pushed back or pulled towards you (as if you were flashing your head lights). Then give it a try.

Thanks for the tip, but I've found that already ;) there's no sign of anything kicking in and then being stopped at all, it's almost as if the module was never coded in! I know the car had a replacement ECU not that long ago so I'll get onto someone with VCDS to have a look. The EPC light is the main issue :S

Update: Got the car booked in at a local ecu specialist (no access to anyone with VCDS near me) so will see where it takes us. The mystery light remains ever present....

I reckon it'll be your engine speed sensor/camshaft sensor, about £80 from audi I think! Hope you get it sorted mate

Based in south devon until the end of the month, then relocating to lancashire, blackburn area
