Ok i changed my snub mount for a poly version a few months ago to try n cure some drivetrain slop i have, and although it reduced it, its still not fixed. I guess its more masking the issue than anything else.

When driving the car hard you really can feel the engine moving around in the bay and its not very nice.

I know there are two cylindrical mounts on the engine, but what exactly holds the gearbox in? i noticed a D shaped mount on the near side when i was doing the suspension, but i figure there must be something at the other side too...

If anyone has a set of these mounts kicking around and fancy selling them to me cheap, i'll take them, fill them with tigerseal and swap them in which will hopefully stiffen it up somewhat!

ok it would seem there is a doughnut on the drivers side that mounts upwards?

I'm not looking to spend mega bucks on fixing this issue so if anyone can suggest where i can get the mounts cheap that'd be much appreciated.

Anyone with any experience of filling the stock mounts with tigerseal/sikaflex?

i could see the near side gearbox mount had holes in it, so they'd fill up nicely, but do the engine ones and the doughnut gearbox mount have holes in them that can be filled?

Can i also presume that all the mounts are the same regardless of car?

so if i get some mounts from a V6 or a quattro they'll fit mine just fine?

Hmm they appear to be harder to find that i'd suspected, emailed a few breakers on ebay who apparently dont have them (probably cant be ***** taking them off)

My local factors wants around £15 each for the gearbox mounts and £35 each for the engine mounts.

I suspect the gearbox ones are in greater need of repair than the engine ones, does anyone on here happen to have them laying around that they'd fancy selling? if not i think i'll order up and change the gearbox mounts first, then do the engine ones if it still doesnt cure it.

£35 for second hand mounts is nuts!
034 have a range of mounts, juts got an email from them.
not cheap but you will not have to worry about them going anytime soon.
I have used bugpack poly monuts on a Mk2 golf with some success, if you are chipped or going big turbo it is a must. I saw how much movement I had when on a dyno and it is scary!

If you are replacing them and/or filling them it is worth getting new OEM ones to do it to. less fatigue in the rubber and less crap for the sikaflex/tiger seal to stick to!

that was the price for new mounts not second hand ones...

i think i'll get the two gearbox ones ordered up and fill them with polyurethane and see how that affects it, if its still slopping around i'll swap out the engine ones too.
