Engine problems.

Cheers guys. Still no update. Rang them about 5 and they said they'd ring me back. Buggers must of forgot! :ermm:

Getting abit worried about the time they've had it etc. :sign_unfair:

With only having 42k on it's not gonna be anything major.
Either dv or as someone posted maybe throttle body.

Well just had a phone call and they said there is a problem with the fueling. They said I'll have the car back MONDAY! :( that's all they said. Guess there waiting for a part or something??

i would defo ask for a bit more of an explanation than that, could be fuel pump, injectors etc???

was guna say i wouldnt really accept that for an answer personally

I'd be getting concerned as to whether it should be at a good Audi independent garage.

These guys are a audi specialist! I'v had work done by them before and it's been spot on. But i am getting a little concerned with this one. Was hoping alot more info when they rang..

Sorry mate I assumed they weren't due to the sketchy info they've given you and the time taken.
Any part ordered will usually be there next day unless there's no stock of course.
Think I'd ring and ask what their diagnosis is and what part they've ordered and are they 100% sure that it's going to fix it.
If you don't get that basic info I think I'd be taking it elsewhere.

This is the only garage that i know of who i trust with my car. But if it does come to them taking the 'pee' and needing to go elsewhere i will have to take it to audi!

Just been to the garage to see what's happening and I had a word with the owner and he told me the fuel pumps gone. Don't know why it's taking them until Monday like. What do you guys reckon. Expensive job??

A high pressure fuel pump is about £140 and I'd imagine a low pressure pump about £200
I wonder how they've came to that diagnosis.
Has your car ever had a fuel filter?

The car was once running Revo Stage 2+, I didn't know this until i bought it and found the owner on another forum. The parts are already on order or i was going to ask them to put a APR one on.

Hope they have got the diagnosis right. Bit concerning though and regards to pricing. I work at a merc specialist garage and we ask for ,7 hours initial diagnosis and from there we have a reasonable good idea as to where we are heading if we need more diagnosis or we fit parts. But more to the point have you given them authorisation to fit the part and have they told you prices? Not saying they are doing the wrong thing just a bit concerned as to if the diagnosis is wrong who pays for the parts if you haven't authorised it.

I'll be interested to see what the bill comes back at and what has been replaced. I'm surprised they haven't told you what it is or at least asked if your happy with the price of what ever is getting changed? There not a bad place a few lads who were doing apprenticeships at same time as me worked there I used to work with one of them not really heard any bad stories etc.

There's a Volkswerk over near the police station I'd personally say that the best VAG place in the local area maybe worth a call to them in the future first. I've not got any customer reviews on them as such but I've borrowed tools etc from there and my dad delt with them once when I was away.

Just don't ever take it to the Lawsons garage off the A66.

Erm I guess I did mate. I give it too my mate and told him to sort it for me. I said whatever needs doing, needs doing! So I guess I authorised it that way haha.

Iv used falcon a lot. I'd like to think they wouldn't screw. But I will keep updated on the prices etc.

Iv never heard of volkswork but I'll defiantly have a look into in the future.

You say it was running revo 2+, do you know if the uprated components were removed and the ecu software put back to standard or not?

Just thinking, the ecu could be requesting more fuel than the pump can deliver giving it that shudder

He left the sash clutch kit in. Other then that everything was put to standard! As far as I'm aware the ecu has been put back! It's due a remap soon!

I'd get the remap done soon after just to be sure tbh, saves risking destroying anything else if the Ecu hasn't be reset. Bit of a bonus having an Uprated clutch though!

I think I Deffo will! Never really thought about that before. I know I was over the moon when I found out. Saved me a lot of money not having to fork out for one. Only got 5k miles on it too.

These were my thoughts on this too, heard of this done before with people leaving the software on but selling the controller/flash loader, removing fuel pump internals, removing exhaust and front pipe then washing there hands of it .

Did you say they had checked the cam follower for the fuel pump ?

I'm sure! They just said some white divertor of some sort went in the Fuel pump? I havnt a clue :|

Hi guys! The car's back! Had alot more done then first thought.. Some parts haven't failed what they changed but there was a little bit a wear on them..

The car's had a new fuel pump, Camshaft, Vacuum valve and some more little bits but i forgot! He's doing a full right up fool of what its had. Basically all new seals, air filter's and whatever around the cam's. I don't really know too much but if seen what they've took off and its quite alot! Assoon as i get a bigger list ill report here. Basically whatever they have took of they have replaced with brand new bits!

Thanks alot guys! Happy to have her back! :s3addict:

I don't think I'd fancy the bill!!!!!
Not meaning to be nasty but it does sound like they've tried a few different things to find the real cause.
Are you responsible for paying for these?
The vacuum valve is that a pcv? Was that the main problem or was the camshaft worn away?
Pics of the camshaft lobe would be good.

glad you have it back though mate.

The bill wasn't kind mate. It was £1,587. Was about £400 labour. All the rest where parts. Yes the vacuum valve was PVC! The main problem was the fuel pump. That what give me the problems. He give me a call when the car was in bits and showed me the camshaft. It was a little worn. He said it was up to me If wanted a new one or not. But also said it could give me problems a year down the line. So I thought what the hell. Car was in bits so get it all done at once.

Also replaced something to do with the camshaft?? Like a bearing of some sort?

I'm glad you've got it back but i agree with who ever posted the above it does seem like they have tried various things first that didnt solve itand charged you for them,if the fuel pump cam follower was hardly worn it wouldnt have worn the camshaft so it wouldnt have needed a new one of them, plus if they were going to fit a camshaft they would have fitted the chain and tensioner to save trouble a year down the line ?

Agree that's it the chain the tensioner! I forgot about that. Due it's service now Aswell the ******!
