Engine Fault Code 17978

does anybody know what the above fault code relates to as its not listed in the book

I did a quick google search and it came up with a Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer.

Didn't you say you had a problem with your alarm one night?

It could of picked that up and displayed that as a fault

Mine as done a 18010 due to the battery been run flat or charged so it picks that up as a fault and sore's it.

yeh the hazards were flashing at work again the other day but no siren never had a problem with the car starting tho,

Git to be something with the Immobilizer then?

One of them ones thats hard to track down

yeh probably, gonna speak to the local audi specialist when i take it in for its service see what they say

dont forget in this warm weather if the windows down a bit it will set the sensors off
