Hi, Thanks for reading my post.

A3 2009 BMN engine 170 tdi. Engine coolant sensor code came up on vag com, after EML light lit.

Got a new Audi sensor replaced, cleared error code, code cam back. I have tested the sensor, it tests good.

I would like to test the pins on the ECU, but i have no idea what pins i should be testing? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the ECU. I have searched and found nothing.

In the morning i will jumper the wiring to see what i see. I am expecting to see a fault in the wiring or a fault with the ECU.

    vagcom says p0118 and p0116.

    Thanks Steve

You should be able to look at the sensor output in VCDS - it could be a wiring or ECU fault, but I'd do that first.

    Could be a faulty thermostat.

Did you use a genuine Audi sensor ?

Oh sorry John, Yes i did watch the sensor with VCDS, hard to say what is wrong but clearly it is not right, as the temperature never goes above 34 or so degrees even though engine is clearly up to temperature. Heater is hot if i turn it to hot. I will do some further testing today as i am off work this week.

Yes I used a genuine Audi sensor.

    Thanks John.

    Hi Steve,
First off I'd try some contact lubricant on the sensor plug - I use ACF50 but there are others.....not sure where you're going to find the pin-outs for the ECU ?
