Electronic handbrake not working

Hello i have a 56 plate a6 with the above being inopertive, when you try to operate the light flash's on the switch and on the dash, vcds comes up with 02443 control head in parking brake, and 00473 control module for elec parking brake (j540) in abs module.
I know the switch is extremly common in the passat model, but unsure in the a6, with these codes does anyone have an idea or had themselves same codes.
Also how diffuclt is it to remove the switch ? they are cheap to buy

Just to up-date this, i replaced the h/b control module and all is well, had a fault with the air flow flap in the inlet manifold aswell, vw wanted £350 plus, i removed the inlet and repaired the ball,socket/rod for free, just my labour.
Customer was really pleased as i saved him a fortune
