So I was driving home this afternoon, having done 18 miles of the journey, with 2 to go. The car just died as I was driving, the side lights were on so I had dash illumination, The Radio, ALL the dash including clock needles died, the car shut off, I lost lights, indicators. I pulled over with no power steering (thats when I discovered the indicators didn't work) .The hazards worked , coasted over to the side of the road , the car engine was off and was in gear(6th) All that was lit was the hazard switch and the auto lights on the air con display. So I turned off the ignition, took the key out, re-inserted and the car started straight away.
Didn't check for faults with VAG-COM, will do this tomorrow , But WTF happedned ?
It has been suggested that it could be a loose main power lead to the main fuse box, does the hazard switch use a different feed ? Whats the order of things I should check ?

Thanks

BTW, 1.9TDi Engine.

Report back with a scan then we can get somewhere mate.

The engine solenoid fault was one that showed up in the last scan last month, as well as the speaker l/r. The 2 other bus wire faults appear each time too. The one that has me a little concerned is the Crash Sensor error. Is this my problem I am thinking ? It looks like a break in the loom somerwhere, Now I know there is the one in the door hinge that breaks, but where would I find the one for the Coveinince Module ?

Thanks

Door wires wouldnt cause the car to shut down unless it has shorted back down to a module etc.

Has it been in a crash, cause certainly a broken loom may be the issue here, cant imagine the comfort bus would cause this either, as it does still communicate, strange.

This could be a royal pita tracking down the wires.

No crash. It happened on a smooth section of the road. Does the CCM host some or all the crash modules ? Would I be correct in assuming I could have a damaged loom heading to the CCM or Door Module. Could all these probs come from the loom at the door hinge ? (I did a small repair there before)

Just back from a 100mile spin, No problems to report. I think i'll tackle the door hinge loom and check the connection into the CCM in the passenger side. maybe a little corrosion on the contacts. No one else had this problem ?
