Eibach Pro Kit Fitted

Mine for 30mm front & rear

E10-15-021-02-22

Do these fit a 2016 A3 sportback 8v s-line quattro 150 tdi?

The ones listed on the Eibach site give a drop of 20mm at the front and 10mm at the rear. I am looking for an even 25mm -30mm drop all round.

How do I know if I have s-line or sport suspension?

If you want more drop than that you need SportLine springs. You can check the info of Sport or S-line suspension from your service manual's first page. It has the codes there.
And no, those do not fit on a quattro TDI.
The drop is a always calculated from the Dynamic suspension. Dynamic being the standard.
I have SportLine springs in mine. Originally I had S-line suspension. The drop was almost 40mm.

Here's my codes.

What suspension is it and what springs to get around 25mm drop?

It measures -20mm, since Sport suspension is already 10mm lower than Standard.

Mine is E10-15-021-05-22.

Many thanks !!

I confirm it too: that is the right reference for our 1.5/35 tfsi with multilink rear axle

Lowering (from sport suspension) almost 25 mm. in front axle and 20mm. in the rear

What a lovely color, ride height & wheels/spacers!

I want to lower my (Dutch) FL A3 E-Tron also, choosing the Eibach Pro kit.
The E-Tron has the awfull 'dynamic/stock' height o.e.m. :puke:
So a 35/30mm drop would be more than welcome.

What size spacers have you used, front and rear? Are your wheels also 7.5j et51?

thanks :relaxed: its "ara" blue

I will try to answer, but my english is too bad to go into explanations

edit: the car is currently a little lower than in that photo ;)

It depends on the alloys/whells measures. Mine are 7.5J x 18" with ET51

I have mounted 15 mm separators on the front axle and 20 mm on the rear.... BUT, my car is a sedan (limousine) with sportback-model alloys, therefore this car was 11 mm less wide per side, compared to the standard measures (note: for 18" alloys, sedan models are factory mounted with 8J-ET46, while the sportback mount 7.5J-ET51... This is the reason why, as standard, the sedan are wider than the sportback, although they have the same chassis/bushing/etc

SO, in conclusion, with 8J alloys (or these 7,5J mounted on a sportback) I would have mounted 10 mm spacers on the front axle and 15mm on the rear

In my case, the edge of the tire rubber (NOT the edge of the alloy) is flush with the exterior car body (yes, the tire could rub the body, but I think there is no risk of that happening, as it has almost 80 mm margin... :smirk:)

For the etron I think there is only one kit model :grimacing:

Eibach prokit etron

Eibach prokit A3 8V

@debian Thanks for your detailed answer. Your English/explanation is great!

Why is your A3 'currently a little lower than in the photo'?
Isn't the Eibach Pro kit already fitted in the photo? Looks like it is.

I have borrowed 17.5mm + 10mm spacers from ECS from a friend.
I they fit/look flush, I can buy them from him. I think, looking at your description, these sizes are a good start for my Sportback.

Do you also notice a better 'ride' when driving straight/on highways?
So not only when cornering...
I ask this because my A3 E-Tron doesn't feel 'planted' (difficult for me to describe, my native language is Dutch), compared to other cars, like a 2016 S-Line Audi A4 I drive at work.
Drive select (comfort/auto/dynamic) doesn't make a difference (except steeringwheel/turning feels heavier offcourse).

Yes, the prokit springs are on, but that photo was taken just after finishing the job, and the springs had not yet fully ¿settled? (I don't know if I'm using the right word... i mean that when the springs are just newly fitted, they still "deform" a little for a few kilometers, under the weight of the car)

Same day, hours after the photo, it had dropped another 5-10 mm, especially in the front

I don't know if the g-tron model shares tires and measures with a "normal" sportback. If this is so, and your car has standard alloys (18 "- 7,5J), I think those separators will fit perfect :icon thumright:

Mmmm yes, but not too much hehehe... When driving straight, I notice that its a bit harder and more stable, but not much better ride. When driving in curves, yes, the change is very noticeable (and it would be better if the shocks had also changed)

What has improved very little, is that it continues to bounce/pitch a bit in changes of grade (because I didnt change dampers/shocks); and neither the typical rolling of this car in curves (because the antiroll-bars)

I guess we cant compare that A3 with that A4, for several reasons: the A4 has much better suspension, especially front (both for being sline range and for equipping front multi-link, which does not have the A3), so its more "attached" to the road (¿"planted"?); In addition, the electric vehicle is heavier in relation to its chassis and makes it more difficult for its own suspension.

DriveSelect, I think, doesnt affect the suspension (I guess you dont equipped the magnetic ride hehe)

@debian Good to hear overall performance is improved.
I contacted a local VAG-specialist and made a good price, so fitting and wheel allignment will be done soon for my E-Tron!

What do you mean with 'continues bounch/pitch'? Is this a negative side-effect after lowering with the Eibach springs?

@debian
What do you mean with 'continues bounch/pitch'? Is this a negative side-effect after lowering with the Eibach springs?

It is not a side effect with short springs, but a "defect" of the standard car. It can be corrected with shock absorbers and/or antiroll bars

I mean the car continues to bounce off the front axle in bumps and changes in ground level (it needs better shock absorbers) and also continues to lean "a bit / too much" in fast corners and quick changes of support (needs harder antirolls)

So yes, the suspension performance is quite improved, but not in all aspects. I think: among the upgrades we can do, it is not the best, but may be the cheapest / effective one ;)

Thanks,

Looking at the 'downsides' (your described bounce and lean): would you (and other forum members who have the Eibach Pro springs) still advice to do this? Would it feel as an overall upgrade?
Or better not, compared to stock (and save for a complete kit with shocks and springs).

I think I didn't explain myself. What I described is NOT something that gets worse because/with hard springs, but is the standard car... "bounce and lean" improves but not very much, neither nothing. Just wanted to point it out.

Also, my explain was NOT specific to any brand/model

To clarify: Im very happy with these eibach springs and I would mount them again ;)

Ordered the Eibach Pro kit, fitting and wheel alignment is going to happen 24 februari at a local VAG-specialist.
Excited!

The Eibach Pro kit was fitted today.
WauuuuuuW what a difference, looks sóóó good.
Only did one short 'test drive', but handling feels very good.

I will post before and after pictures tomorrow and will post some more details about handling/feel when I drove a couple of miles.

One question:
The height, measured from the ground on the front (left and right) is exactly 64cm.
The height on the rear, left is 64.5cm
The height on the rear, right is 65.4cm.

This difference (64.5 ~ 65.5cm) is visible!
Will this 'settle' after a couple of miles or should i be worried....? :culpability:

@makelja thanks! Another 0.5 to 1cm (max!!!) would look awesome.

Measured all heights again today on a 'flatter asphalt' spot and not from the ground, but from where the rim starts.
All heights are around the same, so I guess this is good. (a maximum of a few millimeters difference, but I guess this is normal? The level of the fuel tank/weight/etc...)

First, some pictures.
Not the best before and after (different spot, bad weather, etc. But you get the idea):

After:

What a difference!

And now about handling:
Whauwwww, what a noticable difference.
I wanted to achieve the same 'behavior' as the 2016 A4 S-line, I drive at work.
That car feels very direct, cornering is fun, feels sporty, etc.

With the Eibach Pro kit on my A3 E-Tron, the car exceeds my expectations!
It feels so much more 'planted'. More direct and is fun to drive.
(The wheel alignment is done with a 'sport setting', so a little extra camber)
I feels even better than the stock A4 S-line I described above.

The comfort on bumpy roads, speeds bumps etc feels excellent. Firm but not bumpy.

Going to do some test drives this week, when roads are dry, and will let you guys know my future experiences.

So far, verrrrrrrrrrry happy with the kit.

looks great - sits a little lower at the back than my 1.5 TFSI which I think looks better on yours

Did you use the stock original shocks that where already on the car when fitting the new springs ? And is there any squeaking noises from the new springs ?

Yes, I used the stock (2017) shocks and no squeaking noises at all.

Did you experience something different yourself?

Also placed some alieexpress Audi S3 side mirror covers with lane assist holes today.

Don't know if I like them more, compared to the o.e.m. black mirrors, but for this price I just had to try :)

Yes, the same happened to me, the back of the passenger side was 1 cm. higher than the other 3 wheels, and I finally realized that it depends on the level (weight) in the gas-tank. With it full, the balance is correct :icon thumright:

Hello guys,im about to pull the trigger and getting a set of these springs for my audi tdi 1.6.What i find very wrong with the car now is by having the oem s-line suspension the car is very hard and bouncy at everyday potholing in the city.Have anyone changed for s line springs to the eibach's ones?Should there be any noticable improvment comfort wise?

I changed from S-Line suspension to Eibach SportLine. It is not so stiff as S-Line but still very firm. You could say even more comfortable.
Shock absorbers are original.

Do you remember if you had the bounce-crash effect over potholes and bumps with the oem sline's?Is it much more bearable now or the difference is negligible?

Sorry, can't really remember anymore. But now it is bearable. And don't feel like the fillings in teeth fall out if you hit one.

Like I promised, after some 'test driving', my experiences with the Eibach Pro kit on my 2017 A3 E-Tron so far:

  • Cornering and sporty driving is sóóóó much more fun. It finally feels like I can 'attack a corner', instead of excessive body lean/roll feelings
  • Steering/cornering feels 'about the same' as the 2016 A4 S-line (stock S-Line ride height) I drive at work (which is good/what I wanted to achieve)
  • bumps/potholes are bearable but very firm, you can't drive it as fast in urban areas with a lot of bumps as in the mentioned A4 S-line
  • Height looks awesome! Just the way I wanted. Maybe even a little lower.... It settled at 64cm on the front and 64.5cm on the back (ground to fender)
So looks are great, but you must keep this in mind while driving, I already scraped something underneath the car and this was only with two persons in the Audi
  • If you have a big family/often drive with 3+ persons, this setup is too low and to firm in my opinion (in my case, I drive the car 90% alone, so it is fine for now)

Only 'problem':
After lowering, I can hear a little 'creak', coming from the front.
Hearable when steering while stationary and while driving very slowly, like on parking lots.
It is a constant sound. So not only when reaching full lock.
The sound isn't very hard, but hearable and annoying. Especially because my A3 drives fully electric at those speeds, so normally very quiet.

I asked the mechanic who fitted the Eibach kit and he's telling my he heard this complaint from a lot of A3 8v owners and you can't do anything about it, because often the noise is coming from the struts.
It can also be the control arm rubbers, so he kindly offers me to have a look at them and grease them, to find out if this is the noise/problem.

What are your experiences?
@makelja & @debian & @PaulWhitt82 , you also have the Eibach Pro kit. Can you hear this little 'creak' when steering on parking lots?

I have Sport Line. I also hear little creack. Ever since they were installed. Haven't worried about it.

I think it could be the top of the suspension tower, the bearing between the two plates.
But I am not worried about it.

@dp_motley and @makelja, thanks for your answers.
Any other Eibach Pro Kit owners with the 'creaking sound'?
I don't like it, it doens't feel 'premium' and it wasn't there with stock springs... :unamused:

No, I dont

As the mechanic tells you, I would also be suspicious of the rubbers on the anchors of the sway-bar. Perhaps greasing with lithium will clear up the problem. It could also be due to over-tightening of the union screw, so try loosening it a little (just a little, very little, obviously ;)
