Can anyone link me to an EGR delete/blank plate like the one in this picture? The one I found on eBay (the picture) apparently dosnt fit my BKD engine (also pictured), I just want to delete the EGR off but can't find a blanking plate that fits. Cheers.

Go to a decent mapping company get the egr mapped out and they will put plates in as well.

That's how I go mine done, saves with the messing about

I've bought an EGR delete now, not the one pictured though, I didn't know they would supply the delete aswell as doing the remap, I thought u buy the delete and they do the remap, oh well.

You can do it either way. As you're going to fit it yourself, anyone with the knowledge will map out the EGR for you.

Well I may aswell now haha, I should've done some research 1st tbh, I am just so fed up seeing that warning light on the dash, "EGR insufficient flow" I cleaned my old EGR no joy, bought a new EGR and the warning light come back On few 100 miles later so just gonna blank it off :)

I'm in a similar position now with my EGR. I thought I was lucky as I really have had no problems with my EGR. Once I had to replace the anti-shudder valve and thought I would clean my EGR whilst there (no problem with the EGR at all). After refitting the car developed the "Insufficient flow" error, which was weird bearing in mind I just cleaned it. This was like two years ago. Lately I've noticed that my EGR is leaking oil from behind the round metal shell and the error has come back. So I think the diaphragm must be torn slightly, meaning the full effect of the vacuum is not achieved and therefore the EGR is not opening fully and therefore the "insufficient flow" crops up. That's what I think anyway.

On top of that, I now have an overboost error. Grrr. Happened once before after I left the car standing for about 4 weeks; I just thrashed it and all was well. This time I left it standing for about 2 weeks and this error has popped up again. ****** turbo has been leaking oil for a long time, but refuses to give up. Gona try a fuel treatment first, rag it and then see what happens.

Just my EGR and starter motor playing up on mine at the mo thank god, I have a replacement Bosch starter all ready to fit at the weekend, hoping my EGR blank comes before then so I can fit that on the same day, then it's saving to have the EGR mapped out of the cars memory.

EGR on PD140 can be deleted via software only, metal plate isn't even needed. That's what I did to my previous car with the same engine.

Indeed most cars mapped out , egr is closed .

Blank is used if egr is stuck open or you want to stop exhaust gasses from unnecessarily travelling up an egr feed pipe from the exhaust manifold .

So what your both saying blanking my egr is pointless and I need the remap for it to have any effect at all?

No, the mapping part is so the eml doesn't illuminate .

So just standard map with egr out or most go Stage 1 egr out .

So I can blank the EGR and will feel the effects of that, the map is just to stop the light from illuminating?

I'd say electronic as I literally closed mine in ECU map and din't bother with blanking plate as it didn't make a difference - air cannot go through either closed EGR or a blanking plate.

I think on a BKD, it is vacuum-controlled.
That's what I thought tbh then I had a look n there is an electrical connector n thought oh must be electric n then I thought hang on that's probably a sensor haha, but I'm pretty sure it's vacuum, I remember talking to volks a vw audi specialist near me about it n I'm sure they said it's vacuum.

Yeah regarding what you said about the electrical connector, I think you are referring to the one on the anti-shudder valve which although bolted to the EGR unit itself, it is actually a separate component.

My EGR blank arrived today, after I fit my new starter motor, which has made a massive difference in regards to my starting issue (another post), I fitted the blank, can't feel an immediate difference, I'll see how i get on with it in terms of fuel economy and daily drive see if I can feel some of the points being made such as better pick up at low revs etc, I have noticed there is less black smoke or smoke in general so wondering if that's down to the blank or if the cars on a good day haha, at the end of the day it's either that or deal with a dodgy EGR forever, I'll get it mapped out evetually so the EML light is off sick of seeing on my dash now.
