What’s the max hp/torque your set up is capable of?

Are you still on the stock ECU or have you upgraded?
The turbo is capable of 550hp. We still have some ways to go but I'd be pretty surprised if the fueling will let us get there. The engine is forged so there's no problem getting there from that standpoint.

Stock ecu.

I think I bricked my ecu flashing a file. Anyone know how to unbrick one?

Changed my shocks tonight. Took out some blown Bilsteins that someone sold me not long ago. They're going in the trash. Just a quick snapshot below of the size difference between the Koni STR.T's and the Bilsteins. I'm sure they'll be noticably better than what I had in. The old ride was like a lowered mini truck on cut springs.

In other news, i have a new TurboSmart wastegate on the way. The car is not holding boost well past 6000 rpm. It gets to about 24-25 psi and then drops to about 17 psi, give or take. We've tried multiple things and logged them all and nothing seems to make a difference. Hopefully the new wastegate does the trick.

Got my new TurboSmart Comp Gate 40. Set it up with a 17 lb spring combo. Haven't taken it out yet but it looks pretty.

Plan on getting some logs tomorrow or this weekend. Hope it fixes things or i might put in a heavier spring combo to see if that does anything.

Looks awesome mate!

I notice you’ve got a turbo jacket fitted. Is that just to protect components or Did you see a slight improvement in spool?

I’ve got one but haven’t fitted it yet as got an oil leak above the turbo. I’ve read all the stories online about the possibility that they could cook the oil in the turbo, have you experienced anything like that?

My theory is if you warm up/cool down properly, as you’re supposed to with a tuned engine, it will be fine but looking for some ‘real world’ experience as I don’t know anyone who’s ever fitted one.

The blanket shouldn't cause anything to cook in the turbo. If you're driving the car hard then you definitely give it a minute or two to cool down but modern day turbos are well built for this.

I don't know that I've noticed any increase spool time but the engine bay is noticeably cooler. I mean, it's still hot but not burn your face off hot.

It's a shame to hide all that brilliant engine bay under a solid bonnet, looks great Edgar.
Hows the Mishimoto catch can setup working now?

Thanks Rob. It is a shame but I'd like to tuck and hide the wires and hoses better if i was going to show it off more.

The can works well. It fills up almost every week since the weather has been cold and damp but it does it's job.

So if you've been keeping up then you'll know the car hasn't been feeling right. I did a compression test this weekend and although she's still very lively i can tell there's something amiss. Test showed pretty consistent across except for cylinder 3, a little lower than the rest, but overall the numbers are a bit low. This was done on a warm engine with two different testers. My cheap eBay tester read under 100 on each one (about 95psi). The one I rented from O'Reilly's was a bit better but still not great. I needed to pull the engine to fix some leaks anyways so looks like it's one more go this summer. Luckily I have almost everything i need to make it an easy and inexpensive job. Some new rings, a hone ball (i have one already), new head gasket, and that's about it. I'll check the bearings while I'm inside and replace the thrust washers for piece of mind but it should be a 2-3 day job at most. Anyways, until then I'll just keep driving it and see if i come up with any other theories before I pull the engine.

No other real vices to spend money on Rob so i just throw it at this. I put a lot of money into savings and investments so i like to enjoy this car. It's only got a few more years until i throw it away and buy me a Porsche or some other expensive super-ish car to mod heavily for my mid life crisis.
