As per the title has anybody else had the same thing happen? Am i right in thinking that its just a case of taking it back to get reloaded or would i have to pay again?

Thanks

Had my Golf reflashed 4 times by the dealer and 4 times had the REVO code re-instated.
My REVO dealer charged me `zilch`, some have a nominal labour charge of £50 or so, depends on the dealer.
REVO keep a database on the cars that have been remapped with their product so you only pay once per car.

I would be surprised if GIAC dealers didnt have a simliar policy.

Good luck
Paul

Thank you kind sir, im hoping thats the case and even if i have to pay for an hours labour thats fair i think.

Fingers crossed

When you remap your motor with GAIC and some others it is regsitered against your ECU, from what lve read. So you have bought the map so there shouldnt be a problem , maybe the time the supplier has to redo it. But in saying that lve been told that GIAC software isnt visable to normal Audi service centers. What was the reason you lost the software?

Mine was worse than this, i had my ecu replaced and when i got it reflashed by jim at star he only charged me for before and after rolling road time not for doing the reflash.

are there often flashes to software when the dealer services the A3/S3? I have a 53 plate 2.0 FSI that has only 21k on it. It has only been serviced once since new (its due again shortly) by Arnold Clark of all places??? Is there likely to have been a flash update that my car could benefit from?

Good news stattler are doing it foc, excellent service as always

I had the same trouble and jbs have just told me to call down saturday to have it reflashed with the cc,phase 1

All sorted now, the map is back on and i thought i would treat the car to an evoms kit. Really happy with the kit and statller service the only problem is that my ******* clutch is slipping now so more expense replacing that!!!!

Wow, clutch slipping already? How many miles?

I assume the std S3 clutch just cant cope with over 300bhp then?

My M3 clutch lasted 100k miles!

It could be your DMF.
This failed on my Golf after REVO Stage 1.
The DMF is a known weak link in all the petrol and derv VAG range .
VW changed mine under warranty and also fitted a new clutch as it had suffered some consequential damage.

Im sure AUDI will do the same as the DMF not considered a `consumable` item like the clutch is.

Good luck.

how can they tell if its the DMF? Audi said that is wouldnt be covered under warranty but i have a friend who works there trying to sort it.

Im sure if i kick off they will replace it, got a quote of £650 for a genuine Audi clutch supplied and fitted by a local specialist which isnt bad.

Its a gamble.
I went down this route and had a local garage quote me £400 for a clutch for the Golf.
Seemed reasonable so I accepted and dropped the car off.
4 hours later got a call to say the gearbox was out and the DMF was found to be shagged.
The damper between the 2 plates had collapsed and the outside part could be rattled around by hand.
Seemingly this preveted corrected DMF/clutch alligment/contact and hence clutch slip under load.
The gearbox, nuts, bolts etc....went in the boot and the car was recovered to the local VW garage.

VW inspected the DMF and confirmed it was knackered, and it was covered under warranty.

Cost me £100 and £50 recovery cost but thankfully VW covered the new DMF and clutch.
The car was spot on after that.

The theory was that the DMF was knackered anyway and the extra torque generated by the remap highlighted the problematic DMD sooner.

Of course this may not be the case with your car but DMFs are a known weakness.

Good luck.

Cheers

DMF = Dual M*** Flywheel

Its a 2 piece unit with some kind of intermediate damper betwwen the 2 plates. This is how I understand it, other here may know better.

Anyway, they are meant to reduce vibration from the engine into the cabin etc....
Seems like they are more hassle than they are worth.

cheers
