    So here is a question:
How do we know if our Audi S4 B7 V8's have the Direct Shift Gearbox fitted and if so how and where can you identify this ? Is it via the sticker in the service schedule or spare wheel well, gearbox coding or VIN number perhaps ?

    Thanks.

AFAIK the DSG gearbox was only used in the B8's and newer A4's not the B7's. As you have already said find the gearbox code from the build sticker and google it. The gearbox is likely to be a 6 speed Tiptronic.

Ive worked on loads of vag cars over the years and whether this is much help it not I'm not sure but everyone I've seen thats is dsg it actually says it on the shifter, also didn’t think dsg was on the b7’s? Always assumed they had the cvt boxes not dsg.
