Thought I’d treat the RS to a DSG service. Old filter vs new Filter housing is a pig to get at though. 6 litres took less than 10 mins to pump in. Started it up and warmed the fluid up to the 35-45 C range then unplugged the filler coupling and waited for the excess to drain out before it turned into a steady drip, then fitted new a drain plug.
What's the tool you use to put fresh oil back in? Wouldn't mind doing mine. Sent from my GM1913 using Tapatalk
Drain plugs. One on the bottom as in my picture. The other on the side near the front, to the right of the mech unit. Item 25 on the drawing is the mech drain plug. View attachment 193035
As mentioned above, m14 Allen bolt head in the main plug then a smaller I think 7 mm plastic snorkel type plug inside this one for full drainage
Sorry yes as Dan pointed out. In the service kit I bought you actually get a new plastic snorkel. The Snorkel is under the drain plug. You’ll need a hexagonal drain plug socket then an 8mm iirc hex bit to undo the snorkel. 3nm torque for refitting the snorkel and 45 nm for the main drain plug. 20nm for the smaller splined Mechatronic drain plug.
How many miles? It's nice to see a decent sized filter in there, stands chance of getting through a service interval without clogging up! I'm only at 15k but suspect I already lost 2-300ml through the DSG breather. I must get round to fitting the catch catch. What is the OEM oil?
Stop winding each other up please. If it continues you may get a little holiday to think about the way your posting.
