Hi, im having a few problems with the DSG in my 56 A3 2.0tsi, having driven it for 10 miles today when i come to stop and its changing down from 2nd to 1st in D it judders like its about to stall in 2nd then drops to first and revs up, then when pulling away it doesnt engage drive smoothly but jumps forward like its dropped the clutch... Its only started this today but has previously felt like when engaging D its 'dragging the clutch' and trying to pull away even with my foot firmly on the brake

any sugestions or ideas on this one, ive read other forums but hear lots of different opinions.

Thanks

The thing that springs to mind first is it has wet clutches so is your oil level correct ? It could be a 1000 things but just thinking of the cheap things first :)

Thanks paddy, im goin to book it in on wednesday for the oil change, the word cheap is the wrong word for anything to do with dsg so hear.

Get them to run a diagnostic check while they are at it. My DSG started playing up once and i thought i was in for a huge bill and they did a diag check and re coded a solenoid and its been fine ever since touch wood. 52k miles and counting :)

My DSG on my diesel has similar issues,

When I slow down it clunks into gear when you drop from 3rd to second and you can feel a bump when it finally changes to first. Also when I pull off it jumps in the same way a manual would if you ripped the clutch up.

Audi had it in but couldn't find a problem but reset the ECU and now the issue is intermittent.

I am swapping in for an S3 so haven't followed through with it but would be interested to find out what caused it.

Apparantly they can reset the biting point on the clutch so maybe it has lost its setting somehow?

Sometimes I wonder how much DSG likes heat. Since we've been been having this hot weather I've noticed mine isn't as silky smooth as it was. It's nowhere near as extreme as yours but it has been doing a few odd things which are similar.
But this morning it's back to normal again and outside is half the temperature of what is has been. Take yours for a spin while it's still pretty cool outside and see if things are any better.
Might not be the answer to your problem but could be a pointer.

Good grief Ay its only 11.30 and you have been outside already !!...maybe i better get up :)

I've already driven from east london to west London and back to east again. And add to that a failed Tescos visit, and a 20 min queue to get some petrol.
Stay in bed mate, out here is not all is cracked up to be!

lmfao you 2 will bring a good name to this forum if you keep this up :p

It may be an idea to do a dsg calibration & see if the issue is resolved, without frightening you to much, there is an issue with the dsg cu mechatronic unit that has some of these symptoms tbh, audi wont admit it, which is why they are giving goodwill gestures to anyone with issues of a certain age of car but not everyone, in the US they extended dsg cu warranties to 100k miles, says allot IMHO.

Now yours maybe just an oil issue or calibration, so dont panic just yet :)

I was starting to feel left out lmfao.

Now tell me, how did you afford your A3 :undwech:

Ony if you tell us how you got all your thanks back....

Oh thats simple. I cant afford my A3...thats why i run a seven year old banger :) I do aspire to being like the rest of you though :lmfao:

Get the oil changed! It could well be as simple as that, hopefully.

Hey Sub, dont say that about the heat! When mine arrives its just going to have to cope with heat!!!!!

Thanks for everyones advice, i got the dsg box oil and filter done today and it seems to have sorted things, nice smooth driving again. aparently it only had 4.25 ltrs of oil in there when it should have around 6.5 so i guess this wouldnt do it much good at all. there were no fault codes for any problems either so my wallet saved a smashing.....phheeww!

i had the work done for £160 at a place called VASS in coventry just off the leaminton road. they are a vag specialist. The guy gary who runs it was really helpful and got the work done pronto. definatly would recomend .... Gary at VASS 02476 304141.
