Hello all.... the journey of discovery continues, with another symptom..........
This morning when in 6th gear the engine is 'stuttering' when in 6th gear around 1500RPM under light throttle load.
I can avoid it by short-shifting' into 7th or down into 5th and accelerating a little.
weird.... is there anything in these DSG boxes that is particular to 6th gear.

TIA :)

Hello, what car do you have ? I wasn't aware that any A3 8Ps came with a 7 speed box. I thought this was something introduced in the later 8vs. Might be better off asking in that section if so

A small update....
this morning, a small change! I left the house late, so drove a little quicker than normal, and it was colder this morning than the last few days.....
Surprise, the gear-changes were almost spot-on, no stutters, just as it was before.

Another difference I think I noticed, the gearbox seemed to hang on to gears longer before changing up, but changes up? and down? were smooth.
Apart from a thunk into 7th sometimes, it seems to have cured itself.
Is it possible.....? :-(

when was the last time the dsg was serviced ?
They should be serviced every 38k.
another thing is the box might need calibration cause of wear on the clutch plates, think this can be done with vcds otherwise dealer/specialist.
lastly it could be a dual mass flywheel issue like a normal manual gearbox.

Thanks...... we only have owned the car for 3 months, never been serviced that I know of? :-(
DSG service, sounds complicated / expensive.....?
Can OBDEleven 'long-code' to allow for clutch wear, do you know?
DM flywheels I understand, VW Passat with almost 300k miles.... :)

cheers

On my last car the dsg service was around £1-200 if I remember right.
The calibration I think needs a vag tool not sure if obd11 can do it. It’s a simple procedure so maybe an independent/specialist can do it.
Dm flywheels is in my experience is pot luck. Some last 100k+ some last 10k. Should be better in an auto as the human is removed from the equation.
