Drivers Door Problems

Hi all, im having a few probs with my drivers door. When its shut the door open symbol still flashes up on the dash. no matter how many times i open and re close it. if i lieave it 10 minutes and try then it usually goes out and i get the "ok" symbol up before the temp gauge kicks in. Whilst this is annoying it has the knock on effect that although the doors will lock the alarm wont arm. Is it just going to be a dosgy sensor or worse?

There is a sensor for this locking system actually in the doors lock its self as i have had to have this replaced before.

do you know where abouts mate?

Not sure i had the whold lock mech replaced under warrenty.
As far as i was aware the little micro switch is in the actual locking mech

Had the same problem with my A3 and A4. It happens when the sunlight hits the door and something within the lock expands with the heat build up. The switch is part of the lock mechanism, dealer tried to fix it a few times but only sure fire fix was new mechanism, about £80 I think from memory.

Both cars had hit over 60,000 miles before this problem started, presummably due to wear as the drivers door is operated most.
