Hi everyone

Since last summer my driver side window decided to stop working. One sunny morning, it would not go up/down by pressing the button on the driver door. All I hear is a click when trying to make it go up (it's already fully up).

I removed the door card and took the motor out, and confirmed that there was no response from pushing the button. I assumed it might be the motor got a used one from the scrappy (correct part number) and tried it... still no luck! It seems it isn't a fault with the motor, although I should confirm it by testing it on the passenger side (?)

Can anyone shed any light on what the problem could be... I have a feeling it might be an electrical fault with the wiring somewhere but not sure. All of the other buttons, doors and window work fine from the same button panel.

The last thing I recall happening before this fault was getting a car wash and I hadn't fully rinsed the car of water before taking the driver-side window down. Maybe some water has got in and caused corrosion somewhere? This doesn't appear to be the case from careful inspection.

Anyway, any help would be fully appreciated. I have had a look at other posts with similar issue but there hasn't been any conclusive findings.

The car is a Audi A3 S-Line 2007 Sportback.

Update: got this checked out by North London Audi Specialist (indie). The issue was a corroded split wire running across the door hinge (behind the rubber flap). Wish I dabbled a bit more and found this out myself as it wasn't really worth paying £72 for 5 minute diagnostic and 10 minute fix... at least it's working now!
