My car is now needing its first service at just under 16000 miles. It’s a 2.0l 190 bhp petrol.

Have just had a quote from Wolverhampton Audi for £414 for this ‘inspection’ service. Which is basically an oil change.

I think this is extortionate for this.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative specialist if needed? I want to keep warranty so needs to be genuine parts etc.

Anyone used anyone in Wolverhampton/Walsall for this?

Steve

Go online and get the Audi Service Plan - it’s £468 for 2 services (one oil only and one inspection And oil)

The service plans are good value if your oil change and inspection are far apart, if close its cheaper to just have both done at once and get them to discount it down a bit.

I had a service plan as there was about 100 days in-between on mine but then Audi decided they had screwed up and shouldn't sell them on S5's so they cancelled it

My service plan is £9.56 a month for three services for the same engine, looks like they increased the charge. No reason why TTLAW can't go to an Audi specialist for a quote and force his dealership to price match it...

I'm confused, is it an A5 or an A4 B8 like your sig says @TTLAW

@cuke2u I wish I could have got your service plan as does I guess everyone in this forum!

Sorry will have to change my signature. It’s the latest A5 with 2.0l petrol 190bhp engine.

I know, I know, still can't fathom how Audi Finance worked it out, I would like to think there was a typo, maybe they thought it was a A1. But it is clearly there in my Audi Finance account...

Ah, makes sense :)

My S5, which is the 3.0l Petrol, was £380 including changing the pollen filter and that was just with the standard 10% discount anyone can get.

The service plan which Audi sold me and then withdrew nearly 2 months later was fully refunded and they are sending me a cheque for £100 for the inconvenience so I have offset that against it.

Car is likely to be over 3years old the next time it goes back to them, assuming I still have it which I hope I do, so it will get cheaper then.

I am confused!

The car wants an oil change in 300 miles but is indicating an inspection at another 4000 miles.

I am going to buy the service plan but am unsure what to book it in for? This seems to cover off an oil change and inspection but I don’t know what it needs this year?

Yes, thats the awkward bit about the service plans, if you buy one it will cover the oil change needed in 300 miles, but then in another 4000 miles it will go and have the inspection and ANOTHER oil change even though its not needed.

You can pay for the oil change and inspection now and they will reset both clocks, in essence it has the inspection slightly early, might also need a pollen filter like mine did.

Thanks

So in essence it will need an inspection every 1 year? I don’t get when you would ever need just the oil change doing if doing 15000 a year.

Depends on the service setting, basically when the car says so unless its on fixed.

Sounds expensive to me!

It seems to be whole service plan used at 19000 when inspection done. That’s a lot for each year. Never had this issue before even when the TT was on variable.

Mine is on variable servicing, it's just had the first service (oil change and inspection) at 11,500 mines, its just under 2 years old, it cost £380 including changing pollen filter.

Now the next oil change is not due for 18,000 miles or 697 days, next inspection in 18,700 miles or 539 days

Thats why the service plan doesn't make much sense for me, won't need anything else doing on it for at least a year

Bedford Audi. cheapest price for me and service is amazing.
Give them a call

You have the same engine as me, my first service was £205. So the extra they are charging is for the inspection...'looking at things' = £209!!!

The service plan now carries a clause to say it would shifted to a fixed service regime, this may, or may not, change things for you and some S cars are excluded anyway https://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/service-plan.html
