Hi Guys,

bought an XTRON android 8 and Audi double din cage complete with heater controls etc. Casr has BOSE, do I need an adaptor specific to this unit or is there a generic type one?
Has anybody ever carried out this mod, not suprised if not as its a PITA!

thanks

Remember seeing something about this the other day, As I recall all the adapters are in the box of the stereo (I think)

Hi every thing should come with the head unit. There are quite a few threads about this. Some xtrons have issues with the bose system. None bose is cool

There were no adaptors or extra leads in my box and it's brand new sealed.

Halfords sell the connectors bit pricey . Or you could take the risk and but off eBay

Go onto the xtrons web site it will show your unit and the connectors it should come with that give you and idea of what you need

Is it just a generic bose adaptor or specific to Audi?

Generic mate. The xtrons have an issue with bose. Because it doesn't give a strong enough signal to start the amp. If you remember the systems ofcold that had the blue wire which was the power wire for the amp. Or the old style electric aerials

Just wire a 12V ignition wire to the “blue” wire

If you bought it from xtrons and it’s android 8 then it has everything you need for Bose. It will have a blue ‘amp’ cable on the speaker cables and also a blue ‘amp’ cable on the power cables. If you connect them together and all the other cables that need connecting then it’s job done and all will work without needing to buy anything else.

Did you buy the Xtrons HU new or 2nd hand? If it's new, and in the box, then all the adapter you need are there. There is no 'special Bose adapter'. Sorry I'm not sure of your vehicle year but are you doing a double din upgrade too? Do you have have the quad block or iso fitting?

This is from the Xtron website:

3. This head unit is compatible with your car's original BOSE system; you just have to connect the amplifier control cable in the ISO wiring harness with the amplifier control cable in the RCA cable.
4. Please note that if your vehicle has no BOSE system, but it has the audio port, you need to ask a professional technician to make some modifications of the wires connection; otherwise, your rear amplifier speakers will NOT have sound.

I don't buy electrics of eBay you never know what your getting unless it states everything is there and it shows a pic. Sounds like a nightmare

I bought it new unopened and it does require a Bose adaptor (not supplied) despite what their website says.

My car is 2006 And it's a currently fitted with single Din unit, so yes it's an upgrade...one I wish j hadn't started though!

Why don’t you take a picture of the unit and all the cables that you have received with it so we can see.
As the chap has said above, if you have bought a new xtrons android 8 unit then everything you need is included in the box.

There is no special Bose adaptor for those units.
As I said further up the post you just connect all the relevant cables together for the speakers etc and then there is also a blue amp cable whoch comes from the rca speaker cables which you connect to another blue amp cable that comes from the unit. That then powers your bose amp and that’s all you need to do. If you haven’t got this then something is missing that should have come with the unit.
