The front passenger door handle LED is no longer working. Is this a self replacement part or warranty issue?

Not sure if this helps, from the A5 but suspect its the same

I had the same issue on my previous A4 and the dealer had to replace the whole door handle, no idea why.

I’ve enjoyed my wee run there of nothing needing done to the car. Latested several weeks, a pleasant time.

Thread Revival!

The back driver side bulb is gone on the door handle - is this a warranty issue, or something that can be changed/is expected to be changed by yourself?

LED failure is the same as bulb failure isn’t it? If so, it’s a consumer replaceable item, or whatever they call it in warranty speak

I agree, but I haven’t been able to get a guide on how to do it. Reading this thread made me think do you need a new handle which might be considered a warranty issue then?

Depends upon what parts are available, however I'd have thought it is a handle removal jobbie...

Watched this, and handle cover is removed very easy. Got the LED module out, and now to get a price! Going to try under warranty as it’s LED.....fingers crossed!

... and another revival.

Spike did the stealers agree to warranty fix as it was LED? My stealer recently quoted me £16 for the bulb and said no labour as it was easy to fix. Thinking however, with lockdown might just give it a bash myself?!

Yes, got my dealer to replace it under warranty. Although I did notice in early March that it had gone again, so another call will be logged once lockdown it over. Frustrating that the same handle has now blown 2nr bulbs!

Hi all.

I did this fix myself on my rear off side door, 2 minutes, very easy.

Had to get my mechanic with an account to buy the part from TPS Manchester North as they’re trade only. I think it cost something like £12 + VAT. make sure you get the door specific part, they’re all different!

Can any of you guys post us the Part No(s) for the LED or where I can find a diagram with the part nos.
I would like to give this a go myself, 3 no. handle LED lights are out on my A4/B9 (OSF, NSF, NSR).
Thanks in advance.

Hi Judge888

I just recently threw away the old LED which would had the part number on always the way when you need something you just threw away.

As mine was OSR, it may have not been much help to you as the right and left ones have different part numbers, not sure about front and rear. The way I did it to make certain was remove the handle and take the LED out. This was very easy, it’s just held on with some clips so pulls right off. There’s a YouTube video somewhere on how to do that.

Edit: S19MYD posted it already.

Thanks Mr Olympik. From what I can see in the video, and perhaps you can confirm (before I dive in and snap a lug or clip) (a) lift the handle (b) push the rear portion of the handle plate and slide it forward?
The led module is then visible and I just unclip it?
Thanks.

It’s been a while but more or less, yes.

Just on part (b), it’s not a push but rather a spread outwards to unclip, sort of like peeling a banana in reverse, then slide off.

The led assy is in quite tight, I carefully used a pry tool.

Mine is at the dealers today for two handle lights i take it its a common fault

Noticed my drivers door has gone. Probably do this myself nearer the summer as it looks easy enough...

I think my A4 light only cost like £12 but I had to get a mechanic/friend with an account to order from TPS Manchester

All in on mine with the part (from the specialist) who supplied it & fitted it, the bill came to just over £100.00. I'm happy with that as on the C7 it's not as easy to change as some of the newer models.

Hi all,
Great thread, and a great Youtube video for taking the handle sleeve off.

I've just had my driver side door handle light stop working. Its a 2016 - 2017 A4. Is the light fitting specific to the model? Based on this thread it also seems to be left side and right side dependent? Is that right?

Thanks
Shaun
