Going to call this a progress thread as opposed to a build as most of what can be done to it has been so theres not much else to build upon from here..

BUT anyway......

Here is my car, 2007 Phantom black Audi S3.

Picked her up last july and have enjoyed her every day since. It came with several mods and i have done several mods to it aswell.

Estimated at Stage 2+ to be 370-80 hp and 350-60 ft lbs although I still need to get it Confirmed on the Dyno.

Heres a spec list:

Phantom Black Metallic Paint
• All the usual goodies in side the car:
• Heated seats
• MFFBSW
• Sat Nav, Dvd and 6 CD changer
• Electric folding/heated mirrors
• Climate control
• Black and white Leather interior
• Rear Tinted windows
Aswell as a few others i've probably forgot

• NGK Iridium 8 plugs
• RS4 Fuel Return Valve
• Revision D Diverter Valve
• CTS Turbo intake and heat shield
• New oem cam follower
• APR High Pressure Fuel Pump
• Miltek Turbo Back Exhaust (resonated & with sports cat)
• APR Runner Flap Delete kit and re-map
• APR Stage 2+ Tune

• H&R Front (24mm) and Rear (26mm) ARBs
• Superpro front camber adjustable ball joints
• KW V3 Coilovers
• Replacement stock top mounts
• Whiteline Front & Rear adjustable drop links
• Genuine BBS CH 18x8 Rims & Bridgestone Potenza RE050s, Recently refurbed in Metallic Red
• Pagid discs and ATE brake pads (front & rear)
• Private Registration
• Yellow fog lights

Incredibly fun car to drive and an all round pleasure to drive in every situation. The minute I saw it I fell in love with, not just this car but Audi's in general. Having coming from a mainly japanese influenced car background it was seen as a mortal sin to have turned to the dark side and went VAG from a lot of my friends but It is definetely something that I don't regret.

There is still quite a few things I plan to do to the car but i'll update when they take place.

Next on the list is:

Full car paintwork correction detail
short private plates and debadge rear rings
gloss black front grill OR RS6 mod (whichever comes up first)
Front bumper and bonnet respray
10mm spacers front and back
Un resonate the exhaust system

But....... less chat, more pictures.

The Wheels were curbed from the previous owner and had several layers of peely powdercoating on them so they needed to be stripped so me and my friend could set about refurbing them:

Nice car, some good wheel work, but the colour doesn't suit imho, keep with the updates :)

The Colour is very marmite. They were a burgundy red before this but I wasn't happy with them so got them blasted. Much happier with this colour and as I know it is not to everyones taste, at the end of the day i'm happy with them as it is a unique combo.

i'll keep it updated as I go a long.

Yeah I agree... Good work restoring the wheels, but they dont suit a Black car imo, maybe if the grill was black...
Also those rear lights need addressed. MY11s would look ideal

And personally I love the colour of those wheels.. The cars just too mixed and matched at the moment... Like it, dont love it

Likewise not sure about the wheel colour, but otherwise, you know where this all leads.....

Yea i'd have gone anthracite myself. Nice lookin car, phantom is an awesome color.

Was gonna do anthracite but its been done to death. Its a safe choice and I fancied pushing the boat out a bit further this time around. I knew it wouldn't be to everyones taste but its a bit adventurous and I like it because of that reason.

Happy everyone is showing their opinions though. Honesty is the best policy.

I like the colour of the wheels but they're not something that suits an Audi, the car looked much classier when they were silver. I'd lose the yellow fog lenses as well as reminds me of an 80's French car and my OCD couldn't cope with not matching the other light lenses :)

Good work though and nice future plans!

Righto, Few things have changed on the car since the last update (including the colour of the wheels, some of you may be pleased to hear).

Had the car detailed and gave the car a single stage correction on the paintwork aswell as the rear rings debadged and spi vision applied to all the exterior lights. The cut plate is now on although I dont have pics of that yet.. Also waiting on Xenonz releasing their pre-facelift rs style grill so I can buy that to complete the exterior styling of the car.

Should look nice for SCS in July. Mods after that are hopefully going to be an Airtec stage 2 intercooler and maybe a few other wee bits and bobs. Anyway, here are some pics after I picked it up from the detailers.

Nice car, liking the list of modifications. New wheel colour is a lot better.

all nice but the lights tint is a bit too much for my liking. Wheels colour is awesome though and the car gets along very nice.

BTW what mods did you find were best to improve steering feedback and feel?

I have ALK and HR fitted at the moment and now thinking of getting KW V2 but saw these

• Whiteline steering rack mount
• Whiteline bumpsteer correction kit

are they making much of a difference or not, getting any vibration? Thanks mate!

No vibrations at all, right accross the speedo. Very nice feel to the steering, very precise and sharp. Definetely making a difference, Especially on the twisties...

So.............................

This arrived on tuesday. Very quick postage might I add. Anyone thinking of buying this in the group buy set-up by muzza, I would jump on it while you can, fantastic piece of kit and at a cracking price. Thanks again Muzza for setting the group buy up.

Looks like its hanging on by nothing here but it was well supported underneath by two jacks.

And unfortunately thats where the picture taking stopped as my phone ran out of battery.

Right, for those wondering if this made a difference to their stage 2+ car, I will give a little insight.

This intercooler with out a doubt made a noticable difference in the way the car performs. I feel with my spec list of mods this was the missing link and the standard intercooler was letting down the rest of the upgrades.

I wouldn't say this has gave me X amount of power and X amount of torque but I feel it has increased them in some way, but where this intercooler shines bright is torque delivery.

Mid range torque is honestly breathtaking than from before. 2.5K boost comes on, 4K and it just lights up the road.(a lot more agressive accleration than before it was fitted) Simple as that. The mid range torque delivery is fantastic. It pulls smoother and consistent right until the red line. Where as before I found my car to suffer on power due to hot weather aswell as an unsufficient flow of cold air from the stock cooler. I also feel this has smoothed out the way the car drives in general. Aswell as the consistent power regardless of weather conditions, i.e. temperature, humidity etc, the intercooler has made a definite difference over the stock one and I would definetely recommmend this for stage 2+ cars as it has smoothened out any kinks in my map for a better and more efficient delivery of power. And at the end of the day, it isn't all about chasing power figures, its about getting the power the car has made to be delivered at the right time when driving and making the power more usable as a whole.

This mod has helped to achieve this.

Yeah but the proper big power ford guys use Pete @ Spec R!

Airtec are the cheapest in the Ford world yet are not so reasonable like for like in the Vw Dub Brand

I mean a massive Ford RS 500 intercooler £287.50p inc free fitting Kit???????? Why are the dub brands so much dearer??????? I checked the TFSI and they are nearly double the price at £595.95 LOL! :keule:

Come on thats so wrong IMO!

Yeah, I came from a japanese car background before I got into Audi's and the price of Audi parts is mental. For the money i've paid on just the intake, Runner flap delete and this intercooler alone, I could have built a fully forged honda B series with either a turbo or ITB's. Honda parts are so cheap compared. Never mind the rest of the money thats been spent on the car.

But....big power and luxury comes at a price.

I think it's not unreasonable.

From my Cosworth days I remember any GpA parts costing an absolute fortune in relative terms then, and by the time you've factored inflation etc in,we don't pay much more for our Audi parts now.

Another thing that adds to this is the fact that IE are making most of the really good parts right now,and so you have to factor import costs also into the bill.

Come on Alex! Lets compare Apples to Apples........ Group A parts are massively different to Airtec lol!

I have been around Cosworths my whole life (Still am) I own one and Airtec are still far to dear like for like audi to ford! Ask yourself why?

You've got a point, but look at the price back then of an RS500 intercooler.

Right well, The start of quite a big update.

The Hybrid is on its way.

Not updated this recently but I have done a few little mods.

Wind deflectors
LED interior and exterior upgrades
Creation motorsport Short shifter
Removed the stupid Fly eye
New Timing solenoid as I snapped the plug fitting the Short shifter :keule:
And a new pre-cat lambda sensor.

Next is:

Hybrid turbo
WMI
charge and dis-charge pipes
Map to suit
Maybe de-cat it after the MOT
Spacers
Bigger or better brakes.

Heres some pics of the previous mods

And I'm looking at these as the next purchase

Conveniently comes with the throttle charge pipe for near enough free with a WMI bung, Ideal.

Dis-charge/turbo outlet pipe
cts-it-110 by Ya Beast......, on Flickr

These are the fraction of the price of the Neuspeed ones I was told to get and the WMI kit comes with the throttle pipe with wmi bung so everything seems to be working out as planned.

I'll post Turbo Porn pics when it arrives.

Any news on TTE Turbo my good friend?

Look forward to your updates see I can't wait lol!!!!!

Bump :anbet:

maybe he's enjoying it so doesn't have time to post here :D
i would love to see resoults without wmi with this setup.

Unfortunately not. Still waiting on it arriving. Dying to even see it, never mind fit it haha.

About to order the above WMI kit and turbo pipes so i'll set about getting them on first.

Unfortunately, this is all coincides with two new tyres and a service that takes priority plus the potential of buying a house so turbo money is getting eaten up quickly. But thats not including the secret turbo money stash the missus doesn't know about ;).

As soon as its here. the pics will be up. I promise.

I think the CTS kit looks good and would have been well up my list had I bought now.

The boost pipe looks similar to the BSH stuff I bought and the WMI port is before the TB so you would need to consider the TB butterfly but mine had been fine over 20 000 miles.

Come on Alex my Sierra runs 518bhp with just a 500 cooler lol!!! Tech from 1987 lol!!!

It's a product of boost and turbo plus other factors.

My Escort was running only 360bhp via a GpN restrictor at 2.5+bar with a smaller intercooler and WMI but could do 0-60s of 3s on any surface.

WMI has its uses and gives an added margin.

I'd not hesitate to use it in a high power app anywhere now.

NOS I do see as a really short term thing.

Once it's gone, and unless you have a whopping cylinder in the car, that's the fun over.

Water or Nos........... It all runs out my friend ;)

Sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite x

.

Like Alex has said, WMI has its uses and is a lot easier to live with than nos. The mix is readily available and easy to top up unlike Nos.

I'm looking to get it to take full advantages of its cooling, octane boosting and timing improvements it creates with the turbo im putting on. Its relatively cheap, easy to install and the benefits are numerous.

Win win if you ask me.

Brother I totally understand but on 410-420bhp it really should not be needed at all!

If it is at that Bhp you need to start looking else were if you ask me mate.

.

Wmi helps to make those figures though. With the amount of heatsoak on tfsi engines, wmi helps cool the charge air and improve the power. Its not like nos. It boosts progessively through the revs. Not only this but it has positive effects on the internal engine parts. It effectively steam cleans it and helps to prolong the life of the engine.

I'm not sure what you see as negative?

When you say I should look elsewhere.. do you mean I should look for another car?? unsure of what this means.

No elsewhere on your need to cool the charge temps mate!

I'm saying if you need to run that much boost to get 400-410 Bhp running WMI there something wrong some where lol!!

Not being Negative sorry if it comes across like that just I am running a lot more on a old 500bhp on a pinto lump with no Det and no WMI mate!
