Just bought a dipstick for my 2009 2.0tfsi A5, because the bonnet latch sensor was playing up hence not getting an oil reading on MMI
My question is, is it safe to leave the dipstick in the tube or will it cause any issues with it being in there??
    Thanks

The sensible people will tell you that its fine to leave it in. There will be the occasional OCD people like me who don't like the fact that it is plastic and so fear that it will warp - so I leave mine in the garage until I need it.

I can add a further irritating but true comment that since a dipstick is not a standard or even optional item then if it is to be left in it should be declared as a modification to your insurer.
