"Digzz" Work In Progress :

Hmm, gutted.... This is a problem!

Not a cheap fix, I'll be honest I haven't thought this one through.

Whats the cheapest and easy way to complete, I know this goes against everything I'm doing but It could be a hole in the wing!!!

Cheap....and....you get to keep the sleeker looking mirrors.

Still haven't got used to the way dumbos look!

Its not a problem, do it properly, I can assure you it will never be a regret, sometimes cost is outweighed by peace of mind :)

Also since when was a facelift conversion cheap anyway, what you want is one of the cheapest jobs to do for the job lol.

Ok, point taken! Right I've been offered a set for £110, what are the costs to get working?

i have the facelift mirrors on mine and i love them... for the time being i have just wired the indicators from the mirrors into original indicator wires and left a bulb in the original indicator to avoid errors... been a month now with no issues.

Just a little big update on my interior. :yahoo:

I've wanted to do this for a long a time …seems like forever…..

I'm talking about mf fbsw and also Double Din.

When you finally save up and buy the parts for this mod …all you want to do is install it a.s.a.p. You get so burned up and anxious to get it all installed because you’ve been thinking about this mod for about 3 years like I have. Even thou I’ve changed my Audi a3 once.

when it’s finally done you’re so over the moon about it …..Like you’ve won the lottery or something. Lol :beerchug:

Even thou it was a bit difficult to get hold of NHN at times which was frustrating. With at times was not his fault as we all have personal stuff to sort out at times? We finally got there.

And the work ethic being 101% …..And I ain’t licking no one’s balls ether…lol :beee:

NHN works like he works for Audi…….fixing problems with problems you didn’t even think that was there in the first place……That’s some next work ethic …believe me…

First he installed my double din cage..then the 2010 audi concert cd player.

Then he installed my mf fbsw…..Then came the thing that was annoying me from May since I done the 2010 conversion……L.E.D mirrors ….he re-pined the J Door modules I supplied him.

Looking at him doing this looked like he had done it before …….but I’ll tell you ……if I did it …..it would be an all-dayer and I wouldn’t have a clue of what I was doing.

He also fixed my AirBag light that was driving me mad since December….Which I was soooo happy about.

I even had an Airbag Specialised come to sort out the light in December ….even he couldn’t fix it……..

The next thing I need to sort out is my rear dimming mirror with a light sensor. As my car was one of the first cars to be fitted with the rear dimming and light sensor. And the wires need to be changed over from the Update k CE module that I’ve installed.

A big thanks to Nigel (NHN) for the work he did on my car.

Quality, the car looks mint. I've come up against another problem which once again I didn't consider. The sidelights won't work, I suspect this because on a 2010 the sidelights are the running lights. The headlights are working fine yet the sidelights won't light up? I've checked the bulbs etc does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

looks good diggz, i like the mats... same as mine but it looks so much nicer when they are new and clean!
have you still got the climate led showing underneath the double din?

How easy was it to wire them?
its not too hard, the hardest part was feeding a wire through from the door module to the indicators.

have you wired in the new headlight correctly? bare in mine the facelift have DRLs as standard. also i am guessing you have an older CE module which may not support the newer DRL and sidelight combination.

Yeh I have still.......Just need the smaller cover now ...as the 1 at the bottom wouldn't fit because it was for a single.

smaller cover? what does that fit onto? on mine after the ashtray there is a plastic that fits in underneath the climate control. do you have that part fitted in? and once in do you still have that red glow like you used to have? (the one i was looking at when we were at Ace Cafe?)

Yeh it's the plastic that fits underneath. I need one for the double din. As there ain't anything there at the moment. Yes I still have the red glow. Do you know where I can get that part ?

ahhh so you dont have anything there, thats why you can still see the glow... i was pretty sure on the double din with ashtray the glow gets cut out by the plastic. its when you dont have the ashtray and have that cubby storage area that the glow can still be seen.

you could buy this AUDI A3 2007 ASH TRAY | eBay and take the plastic part you need off it and then sell the ashtray on?

Is there anyway to use an adaptor in order to get the sidelights working?

My car is a 54 plate new shape model. I see other people have older model a3 and have
Managed to upgrade to led headlights so I presume converting to standard lighting should
Be easy??

the thing with the LED ones is that the LED drl and the sidelights are 2 different bulbs so the connectors are separate. on the standard headlights they are the same bulb with the CE doing the work... im not too sure how it is coded or wired on the standard headlights but i would guess that its just one wire on the bulb. the problem you would be running into is that your CE would not know how to light up the bulb if that coding does not exist on the CE

I thought the sidelights on the standard headlights are separate bulbs underneath the main beam and next to the indicator area of the headlight I could be wrong? It could be a case of upgrading to LEDs ! Ive been offered a pair for 650 is that a good price?

sidelights and DRLs on standard facelift headlights are the same bulb, operating at different brightness.
Sidelights and DRLs on xenon facelift headlights are separate lights.

Top work Diggz, loving everything you've done! Car's a credit to you  xx

Can anyone point me in the direction where I can buy OEM Audi A3 LED's with all connections?

Thanks

I've seen two pair, just waiting for a response for them.

Ok led rear lights sorted and just received cables. One problem instructions in German! I'm aware of the programming but I'm not aware how to wire the inner lights? Can anyone help? Cheers

Well after blood sweat tears I've finished the car ( I've not touched inside ) but more than happy with the look out side, Thanks for the advice off everyone,

More than happy to add photo's just need to work out how to do this without uploading them to another platform?

Great work digzz, always a pleasure to see a job done properly and it's really freshened the car up and brought her up to date.

Good write ups, detailed information and useful list of parts; skills on show :hi:

How about front lip? Did you put it on? I haven't seen any pictures... It would be cool if you painted it in alu matt.

That's coming soon mate... Probably in the Summer...

Did you manage to fit yours ?

Hi,
just a few questions about the build,
did you change over the front crash bar or trim it down 20 cm?
Also what light set-up did you use to get the drl's working?
The adapter cable looks useful, is that the bit of kit i need?
I;ve got an 04 audi tdi and someone kindly smashed into the front of it on NYE and didnt leave any insurance details!
3rd party insurance = no payout -.-
But thats another story for another thread!
As it needs a new wing, bonnet and light i thought may aswell dig deep and face lift :)

As I had the standard 2010 bumper I didn't trim any bar.

I used the KUFATEC GmbH & Co. KG for converting halogen to xenon for my head lights ...and U my need a different CE module as My old A module didn't have DRL settings ...Found out what CE module you have and I can tell u which one u need.

Other then that it's a wire that comes with
KUFATEC cables....you just pin it to your CE module and code it and that's it.

ahh ok,
as the accident happened at my mates house, (hour or so away)
Do you think with the wiring harness the indicators and lights would work and do the coding when i get it back?
and did your headlights have the updated ballasts?
Thanks for the quick response!

You will need to buy l.e.d. wing mirrors as the new wings won't have indicators in them. No just the standard ballasts.

theyve been ordered!
im persuming the indicators in the lights will work
just not the drl's until i hook it up to vag com

did you use the ballasts from your old light set-up?

Yes that's right.
I bought new head lights.
