The SE used to come with extra things that were not standard on the Sport including:
17" 7.5J wheels with 225/45 tyres
I thought the SE standards were 16 and Sport 17
Which wheels did the Sport have?
My 2003 SE came from the dealers with 17's
Bi-xenons
Auto-dimming rear view mirror
Cruise control
Front centre armrest
Luggage pack
Interior lighting pack,
Light and rain sensor pack
Storage pack
Heated seats
Walnut trim
x6 Cd changer with all the bose sounds
As said below, It was upto the buyer....Luckily mine was some doctor and ordered most extra's apart from leather!!!!
From your list the items that would have been added options on a 2003 model were the 17" wheels, the Bi-Xenons, heated seats, Bose and the Walnut trim. All the rest were standard SE spec.
I tend to order my A3s with quite a few extras so I'm sure they are quite a good buy for the second owner.
My current 2009 SE has
6-speed S-tronic
Metallic paint
17 x 7.5J 16-spoke alloys - 225/45 tyres
Concert radio
iPod Connection
Electric driver's seat
Electric lumbar support
Acoustic parking system - rear only
Exterior door mirrors - electrically folding
Light+rain sensor pack - incl Auto dim mirrors
Cruise control
Dual-zone electronic climate control
Interior light pack
Luggage pack
Non-smoking pack
Storage pack
Through-load system
Adaptive Xenon headlights
and it has also been remapped to around 170ps.
Go for the Sport if you can. You get more for similar money.
Here are the specs for each:
SE - http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/equipment/Detail.aspx?deriv=25501
Sport - http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/equipment/Detail.aspx?deriv=25502
One has an s-line badge everything else you pay for ......lol
I thought it was
Standard
SE
Sport
S line
That what I went with but it does not mention the SE has No DIS Thats the mistake I made!!
I think we are moving away from the point of this thread, and probably confusing the hell out of the OP.
The OP wants to know the differences between an SE and a Sport, pre-facelift, the first 8P, year 2003/2004.
There could be some differences between the factory standard SE spec and one he could buy second hand because, as pointed out, the person whole originally spec'd the car could've gone for some extras. Same for the Sport.
But in it's standard form, so a "worst case scenario", the minimum spec is what would be helpful to the OP. That way he will know the least he will get on both trims.
Looking at the spec's found on the Parkers website, both are accurate as far as the standard spec for both trims, with no optional extras added.
Sorry for being a noob.....
But what is DIS?
How do you know if you have it? Is it just the system on your dash that gives you MPG/range/average MPG etc???![]()
DIS stands for Driver Information System. It is the system that provides the small screen between the Speedo and Rev Counter and includes the computer which gives things like overall mpg, range etc. The exact amount of information and functions on the DIS varies according to the age of the model. There is more available on the latter models than on the earlier models.
Good to know as i thought , i was just being dissed all the time , when i heard people talk of it .... Sorry poor joke!
I don't know if trim levels are different in South Africa, but mine and a mate's '04 2.0TDI SEs both have three-spoke steering wheel, DIS and fogs.
That why I am trying to buy a speedo cluster and wiper switch to convert it
Any Spares anybody
