Hi everyone,

I am considering of buying A4 B8 in Black edition in Diesel and automatic transmission. I have done some research and there are two 2.0 TDI engines one is 141hp CAGA and other one is 168hp CAHA. Please could anyone explain to me what is the different between both because I would like to stage 1 the engine with custom map and which one would be better. Thanks.

I’ve got a 10 plate CAGA 140 remapped to 190 it goes pretty well and good mpg. I’m not sure on the actual mechanical differences between those two engines though.

Do a little research on the gearbox, I was going to go for an automatic but there seemed to be a lot of issues with them and none with the manual apart from the usual clutch and DMF replacement.

I've previously had an A4 b8 141bhp & an A5 b8.5 177bhp, both diesel, and both re-maped to Stage 1 using Superchips BluFin.

By far the better of the two was the 177bhp with the map.

Well it depends what car you buy from what people and how they were treating the car before, how much was the remap? I would go for 140 aswell as the insurance is a lot cheaper for me but 170 go to 220 by some maps.

It was £200 from performance edge remaps, he’s called Matt if I remember rightly and he comes out and does it on your drive.

They have different size turbo's

The CAGA is a BV43-1874

The CAHA is a BV43-1880
The 18 I believe is 1.8 inches which is the exducer size or turbine size. The 74 and 80 are related to the compressor size.
The 80 being a % I believe related to the inducer related to the exducer.
Anyway the 170bhp TDI has a larger compressor on the turbo so the engine hardware isn't the same.
