Diesel additive for cleaning?

Hi guys

do you use any diesel additive for cleanup of ERG, and other valves and stuff? And did you notice any difference or are they only placebo money-eaters?

I guess without opening the engine and checking we don't know if they are placebo

I use forte diesel system cleaner now and again

I use Shell V Power.
Car is noticeably better for it.

I've used BP Ultimate diesel in mine since buying it, is it worth it or am i wasting my money? Sorry to hijack but seems relevant..

Do a search for 'diesel purge' on the forum, it's the only stuff worth bothering with. Also on a slightly separate note, I've noticed my TDI runs cack on BP Ultimate & much better on Shell V-Power, not entirely sure why but it could be due to the additives used.
