Okay so this is either going to be a total noob thing to say or a pleasant surprise for some that didn't know.

I for one did not know this and was chuffed when i found it out about my S3.

Okay so you're in your car, windows down. You get out the car, remove the ignition key and shut the door. Lock the car and HOLD the lock button for a few seconds and BOSH! Windows go up :jump:

I am extremely extatic about this although i have no idea why LOL.

It also works if your car is locked and you hold the unlock key the windows drop. :icon_thumright:

I hope someone is impressed with my find, if not then please ignore my child like excitement and feel free to hurl profanity at me :)

One of the first things i try when i get a new car, S3 passed the test, although mine does take an age to start the process off, i end up stood there waiting to see if the windows have shut all the way as if i walk off the remote goes out of range the windows stop, i have to go back and sort it out and look like a tool.

Dammit!! LOL

I don't have a sunroof but that would impress me equally as much!

I've never known about this feature being on cars before.

I knew it was an option as 'smart windows' on aftermarket alarms but never knew it came as standard.

The problem is the other way round. When you hold the unlock it puts down the windows. Nothing worse than going outside to find all your windows down and the doors unlocked, because you sat on the fob

remote lockign range seems to vary hugely, my old A3 would work from 30-40m easily, but my new one is around 20m or so

Wind up/down function is brilliant isn't it, it's easily switched on/off in VAGCOM too, as well as auto locking, and an annoying honk when you lock the car!

As above, you may be able to activate auto locking via vagcom.

haaaa! brilliant. Other cool features of an S3 are,

comon issues with mafs,
boost leaks
cupholders which dont open
over reving on gear changing, all of these are features implanted by audi engineers.

Yeah, I saw it on Top Gear.

My GF lives in a top floor apartment and I always panic that I've left my car open... I can only do it from upstairs if I stick my head out the kitchen window and hold it on my head.

It works just as well with ones mouth closed, thus avoiding the gimp look.

Works on A3's too! Woop Woop =P

Now I just need to get my dodgy drivers side window fixed. As someone with zero tools but a fair degree of mechanical competance, is this a job I should attempt myself or should I allow Audi to get their grubby mitts on it?

Yeh i also knew this, however my sister who owned it before me didnt. You can also do the same to the roof of my mums astra cabriolet, thumb starts to hurt after a while though as the roof takes its time.
The thing about sticking the remote to your head works a treat as it turns you into an aerial, you dont need to open your mouth lol, that just makes you look a bit odd.
The alarm on my alfa works a quarter of a mile away by putting it to my head.

EDIT: Also found out today that if you press the unlock button 3 times while holding the lock button down, your car will start.

Your clutch pedal position sensor is fecked if your car over revs during gear changes. I recently changed my clutch pedal (mate did) and he broke the sensor in question. My car has developed this since i've removed the sensor completely. Replace yours to see if it makes a difference. Circa £15 iirc.

I found out about the auto window open by accident. I must have pressed the unlock button on the key whilst it was in my pocket, I went outside the next morning and found my car locked but both windows down!

You can also activate the needle lighting so that just the white needles on the dials are illuminated as soon as you turn on the ignition. Need VAGCOM though
