Did you get to choose your Registration Number?

OK so not B9 specific but it seems a few of you on here are close to collecting new cars... so were you offered a choice?

This will be my third new Audi but the first I have ordered directly with my local dealer. Previous cars were sourced via brokers and I wasn’t given a choice. I did ask the supplying dealer last time around but got a “computer says no” type response.

I know it’s silly but it’s just one of those little things that, in my eyes, adds to the whole new car experience.

I got offered a list of about 20 to choose from. It was a 1st March collection from a large Audi main dealer so guess they get allocated a stack of new numbers to match their new car sales. If you collect early on the first day you may get more choice

I asked and was given the pick of their allocated numbers - they were all pretty nondescript though - I reckon DVLA keep ahold of anything they think they can sell.

I lease through a broker so not expecting a choice, not that I am too bothered. Car arrived a week ago so I was happy to pick it up on the "old" plate but they insisted on the new and I can't blame them considering the low margins at the price I am paying.

And when you've chosen yours, get a friend to apply the playground test to it, i.e. make sure it doesn't in some way spell 'nob' or 't*sser' !

I dont get to pick one. I get allocated one next week Ive been told... then I need to ensure it! £280 is the cheapest so far. Cheaper to ensure than my TT and Golf Diesel. Crackers given they are worth a few £100 each and the A4 list price was £38K. work that out!

I was given my Reg yesterday, I did ask to see if it was possible to change but was told they are now automatically assigned, Whether or not it’s a coincidence it does contain my initials!

I've always had a choice until it came to the S4 then I was just giving a really rubbish plate ending HZK. Even now I've just had to check what it was as I can never remember it.
