Can anyone recommend the best place to get a replacement detatchable tow ball for my a4 b7 avant, westafalia part number 305 302. It wasn't with the car when i bought it. Thanks in advance.

that may not be as easy as it sounds chap as a lot of sellers wont sell just the towball part as it normally comes as part of the towbar kit.

I bought a full westafalia kit a few years back with the detachable swan neck, found them to be very helpful and no silly overpriced parts either , worth a try.
