Never started a thread before but thought I'd share my emotions regarding an offer from a dealer on a part ex for my rs3, as I well and truly think they take the p***, or am I wrong? Please share your thoughts. I decided to swap/trade my rs3 in for a Q7 as we're expecting our 4th child and obviously need a bit more space. My car is Merlin purple 65 reg, 30,000 miles. Only extras it doesn't have is engine carbon pack, ceramic brakes, and reverse camera, apart from that it's got everything. I'd call it all singing all dancing and has been immaculately looked after since I bought it. Only downside to a potential buyer is it's got an mrc remap and has had secondary cats deleted so there'd be no warranty ( it'd only have 8 months left even if It had it ) apart from that it's got full Audi service history.... even had my squeaky brakes done there too! The car dealership who's Q7 I was interested in took all the details, I sent them pictures to see it as a Detailer friend took it in and took some pics for me, they left it 24 hours, came on the phone the next day to tell me how they'd spent the whole previous day calling every man and his dog to get me the best price, how it might not sell quickly for them as it's unique etc and came up with........... 27k. Am I right in thinking that's below the mark or is this what you gents think is about right? Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated.

If they are taking it knowing it has been mapped and modified, I can appreciate why they would bid low. They technically can’t sell a car that’s been modified and it’s really damn naughty for a centre to try to, because they will be hiding any evidence of a map to sell it on their approved scheme.

Based on the car it is low, the car has to be worth £38-£40k on the market with the spec.

Try a specialist buyer, it just so happens I can HIGHLY recommend one who bought my S3 for £2500 more than I was offered by Audi. Fill in this website and the company will email/call you, the company buying is Weybridge Vehicle Consultancy. Totally hassle free, couldn’t recommend enough.

http://www.sell-my-audi.com/

When they contact you send a load of nice photos and big the spec up, they only have the best of Audi stock.

The best way to work out a rough book/trade value of a car is to use WeBuyAnyCar.

I ran it on yours and they are offering £27,300.00. Now I didn't get asked about spec, so it may well jump up a fair bit with all the spec. But it seems they have offered you the very lowest book price.

Likely because they know it'll take a while to sell being a high valued, high power performance hatch (niche car).

Another good tool is Auto Trader, they now do free valuations.

They suggest over £30k part-ex value on yours.

Hope this is of some help :(

Absolutely stunning....

£27k is a joke for that car with that spec. Selling privately would be your best best. If you priced it right it would more than likely be gone in a few days.

If I didn’t need finance on my purchase I’d be one of the first calling.

Also.... may be worth contacting RS Direct to see what they would offer. They are moving into RS3s more and more and they also do not shy away from modified cars.

Cheers for your advice gents, I'll look into em for sure. I knew with it being modified it was always going to be worth less to a dealership, but thought I'd get at least a couple of quid more than that. Shame too as there Q7 was lovely. Oh well, rant over. Cheers again

The offer dealers give you is a price based on the vehicle type and mileage. Options and thing like how well the paint work is won’t make them give you a better price is what they’ll say. They say it will make it more desirable not worth anymore, but if you was to sell it to the dealer at 27k they’d put it in he forecourt for around 35k the next day. And if you question why it’s for sale at 35k they’d say it’s got all these options, paintwork is perfect, bla bla bla. Go figure :whistle2:

Best bet is selling to a specialist dealer/private sale. It’s a lovely spec and should easily fetch 35k.
Only issue is the remap which might scare someone who’s looking for a non modded car.

Have you considered having it flashed back to stock?

Most reputable tuners will do this free of charge (on cars they themselves have tuned) and not cause a big fuss about it?

I got offered £33k for mine when I had a test drive in a FL RS3 and mine has more miles than yours and less toys. Not mapped though. Perhaps the "specialist" colour and the map has put them off.

TX.

PS no I'm not looking for a FL ;)

yeh there is this option but I'd rather be honest regarding it, I mean if I bought a car in good faith and it got a warranty claim rejected for some reason which was previous to me owning it I'd be a bit miffed. It's no big deal I was simply venting my feelings at the time, over it now. I suppose as it's always said " if you play you pay " and if that's there reason for a small offer then that certainly is the case! If I'm totally honest I'd love to keep my car so might look at something a hell of a lot cheaper like an X-trail or something along those lines. Means we'd have the best of both worlds then as we'd have a comfortable 7 seater and I'd still be able to keep my toy. I wonder how that will go down :whistle2:

I got offered £30,800 by BMW for mine the other day. Panther black and just about every desirable toy except for the pano roof. It also has only 14k miles on a 16 plate. I thought they were taking the pi55 a little. I would hope an Audi dealer would offer £32k. I'll be keeping mine though, just like it too much.

As for yours, it's slightly older and twice the mileage of mine. The colour is extremely nice, however, it's very niche and not necessarily to everyone's tastes. Then there's remap. So even though your car is nicer than mine, mine would probably be an easier sell.

I'd try putting yours up privately. If you're realistic with the asking price and honest with the remap, it should shift pretty quickly.

I feel your pain - my fully loaded great condition 17 plate S3 Saloon which cost £43k in July is now valued on the Audi site at £26,700 based on 13,000 miles. My outstanding finance is around £38k - that’s way more neg equity than I can afford so I’m hoping the dealer isn’t going to shaft me as they originally told me £15k total for neg equity and deposit. (Please let’s not start a that’s crazy money talk - I have a budget - my concern is keeping them to it, but we haven’t spoken about the neg equity and value of my car since I ordered in in August again yet).

Autotrader meanwhile values my car on PX at £28,710 and private sale at £29,720 - which would both be fine to my budget.

The way you (James 123) describe the dealer phoning round for a price strongly suggests they are going to immediately sell it to another trader and not list it themselves due to the remap. So you’ve got two margins coming out of the car.

You must have a serious amount of toys on that to get it to £43k........

I wonder what our mint 65 plate with all options except rear camera, design pack and the lane guidance thing is worth ? Its only done 4000 miles. Probably be offered the same.

Try and sell privately at the right price. I think you’ll sell easily. Put it on eBay for £15 laugh off the ridiculous offers and meet any prospective buyers not at your home.

Sold my bmw 335d 65 plate in 10 hours on eBay, money in the bank and a much better price than wbac or trade in offers

Yes I have pretty much everything on it - just as I specced my RS3 with pretty much everything. And they did give me a £3k discount on the S3 - I have no discount on the RS3. I am hoping maybe that gives me a bit of leeway with the finance when it does arrive as everyone is discounting RS3’s now and my car will make them their money back easily due to the spec.

Although @AudiNutta I contacted the people who bought your car and he replied and said “it didn’t meet their stock requirements” so they weren’t interested. I guess they love low specs cars at that place.

Ask them why? Maybe they have some in stock? They couldn’t wait to get their hands on mine and yours is of a similar price point. Have a look on their website, Weybridge Vehicle Consultants.. they only have the best.

No they have no S3 stock at all. No idea why. It’s not worth my time emailing them if they aren’t interested.

The dealer emailed me today to say my car is awaiting shipping (currently at status 38) and the finance would get in touch once its shipped to sort out the final finance figures. I don’t know if its worth me reminding him I have £13K (plus the £2k deposit) and nothing more. I can’t (after a week in NYC afford anything else). I am hoping the fact my car is well specced and that I have zero discount on the RS3 means they have some wiggle room because the car could well be ready to be collected by the end of next week if we can agree the money.

PS Screw the 18 plate - I want it now.

LOL The last week I was in New York so I was in a different time zone and I am still all messed up. But I’m not a morning person. So I would probably still post at night anyway.

I've noticed too that S3 values have dropped quite sharply. My car is 6 months older than yours, a sportback with less options and 10k miles but Audi giving P/X Value of £24,550, while Autotrader is giving a P/X value of £25,570 and private sale at £26,440. I think demand for these S3's and RS3's have gone down and it's looking more worthwhile for me to just give it back at the end. I only got a 2 year PCP with GFV of £20,900 and it ends in May next year. When I bought the car, I checked the P/X value for it and it was just over £30k, it's not even been a year and already £5.5k down in value. Gone down way faster than I was expecting based on the PFL S3's with similar miles and options.

£43k for a S3 aint fully loaded far from it

Actually list price is £47,060 for the S3 (the £43k is with discount). The only things I didn’t select were the SS seats as I went for Alcantara and leather which I think look much better plus get alcantara door inserts, the seats are also manual and without lumbar and that’s it. And had I known the seats didn’t have lumbar support I would have added that too. If anyone cares Audi config code is AT7JHBGO.

My RS3 sitting at Sheerness getting **** on by seagulls since Monday (Useless transport company the dealer is 48 minutes away!) has a list price of £55,035 and the config code is ASFL6U6T. On there I kept the standard saloon wheels (as diamond cut is an **** to repair if kerbed) and didn’t select any of the carbon stuff or change trim but every other box is ticked. In the end the dealer gave me £2k off the list price as a discount.

The only thing I would change on the RS3 is maybe get the rear spoiler wrapped black if that is possible.

I did go for the QB red stitching however and I have some PFL red air vents so I didn’t think for some red stitching on the doors, centre console and a mat it was worth it.

Incidentally check out vagmall.com they sell the RS design and old style air vents while I am mentioning it.

I do plan on keeping it. This is my dream car - excluding a Ferrari - so I can’t see any reason to change.

I know the RS3 is an amazing car. I love my S3 as I am sure you do with your exclusive colour S3 but I just wanted something a bit special. The RS3 is the same size and shape which is perfect for me. The only thing I will miss is the self parking. That is so much fun to use! Not that I used it that often but when I do :)
