    Hi All

Just looking for some advice on what DAS6 I should buy.

I have been looking at the DAS6 Pro for my first machine as it comes with 5" & 3" backing plate, but I like the DAS6 Pro plus and wonder if you can use a 3" backing plate on that?

Also thinking of Getting Scholl S20 Black or Sonax profiline perfect finish and some CG Hex Logic pads, but can't decide which I should buy and how many. Was going to buy 2 of each 5.5" Orange, Green & Black and 2 of each of the 4" one's or is that overkill?

    Cheers TB

I seen a kit for the das 6 pro the other day and it came with 3 Scholl bottle including the S20, not sure what the other two where. Think it was approx £145.

This was on one of the top results of a Google search and the Scholl stuff seems highly recommend

You can't use a smaller backing plate on the Pro Plus, something to do with the counter balance in the actual backing plate
The DAS 6 Pro plus with the 15 mm throw is the pick of the bunch in conjuction with green, white, orange Hex Logic Quantum pads 5-5 inch
Keep saving for the in2detailing mini 3 inch 8mm throw da £95
these machines will compliment each other

Thanks for the quick replies :thumbs up: will probably go for the pro plus then and HLQ pads. Will be buying from i2detailing as they are local to me and I like to support local business whenever possible.

Will I be able to polish the whole car with just the 5.5" pads or should I wait and get the mini 3" then do it?

    Cheers TB

Yeah you'll do a full car with 2 pads mate just make sure you clean em constantly after each polishing/correction set, in2detailing do the best deal on the 15mm Pro plus l think the discount code is FORENSIC or FORENSIC 10 its one or the other for a 10% discount

Das 6 pro would be fine and s20 or perfect finish would do the job well enough for a one stage finish, 2 of each sounds good to me if you got the cash spare just make sure you clean them after so many passes

Cheers @jassyo06, that was the video that swayed me away for the pro as it look more ergonomic and John says it's safe for noobs

Still undecided whether I should do just the one stage polish or go for a 2 stage as the car is 8 years old and probably never been done before (apart from the front end when a deer jumped in front of the car when I was doing 70 mph :crying:)

If I go for the one stage I notice John just uses the green pad when doing it is that all you need when using S20?
Noticed the 10% of does work on polishers but they are the cheapest site, still get 10% of all the other gear I will need.

I am going to wax it after the polish, as I wont have the time to ceramic coat it but hope to put a ceramic coating on it before winter as I spend a lot of time driving in the winter to go snowboarding. Would I just do a wash, decon and then ceramic coat or will I need to re-polish then do it?

Cheers for all the helpful info you guys have provided. :salute:

    Cheers TB

The Safe bet considering the cars age is use the orange medium cut quantum hex pads along with S3 gold, you cant go wrong then.....then you can follow up with the S40,by the way only buy the 250 ml sized bottles of compound/polish as this size is more than you need to complete the car and then some mate, you'll need Bilt Hamber Cleansing fluid as well to clean the S3 off the panels and also use it....after the s40....so yer wax or whatever you decide to apply to the paint....will bond perfectly.

£150 for the Das 6 Pro Plus with 15 mm throw was the cheapest l saw back in January from lmran ie in2detailing.co.uk,l have had 2 machines off him

Das 6 pro is only £95.....great price good basic machine....but for another £55 the pro plus just blows it oot the water in every area....design=ergonomics,correction ability and power the in2detailing one is rated at 900 watts....so less chance of it slowing down/stalling

Good advice from @jassyo06 re Das models. You wont go too far wrong and are great machines to home your skills on.

With regards to finishing...You do not need to ceramic coat a car ( there are other ways to add protection that are much easier to apply for a newbie). But it would be a great idea to seal the paint to protect your hard work.

Once you have polished it and removed the oils/ residue you could use a combination of the following which can be bought fairly cheaply.

Stage 1 - Megs Fast Finish- lots of offers currently - Halfords for example at £14. Very easy to apply and leaves a nice slick finish.

    74374283-E7EF-4A31-98AF-939AB24BA338.jpeg

Stage 2 - Collinite Insulator Wax - You do not need to add this, however its so quick to apply why wouldnt you? This will help to add further depth of gloss to the car and can be used on top of the above sealant as a sacrificial coat. Once again very easy to apply with a pad and then just wipe/ buff off. (Gently warm bottle up in warm water for 10 mins before hand if contents are lumpy )

These will give you 8-12 months protection for your hard work. You can also top up with a number of other products ad hoc to keep extending the protection. For example somthing like CarPro Reload.

    Thanks @jassyo06, @jungle650, @Seanchadwick2k3 & @Audib5fan for the replies

Going to do a 2 stage as I think it will give better results, spoke to Imran today about Pro & Pro+ he advised I might not be able to polish all the car with the Pro+ due to only being able to use the 5.5" pads, i.e. the front bumper etc... Could I do these parts by hand? :confused new: Need to make my mind up tonight as I am going to order all the gear tomorrow and pick it up on the way home.

The Collinite Insulator Wax seams to get good reviews, but in2detailing don't sell it so might just try their Black Edition' Ceramic Crystal Wax seems to get good reviews on DW.

    Cheers TB

What Car are you detailing mate
I managed to do most of the front with it and yeah its best to use a smaller machine for these parts of the car, but overall you'll hit most parts of the cars paint that matter most

You could do the smaller bits by hand or like jassy said you can smaller polishers,Plenty of sealants and waxes to pick from I’m sure ceramic wax would do the job I haven’t used personally though

Or he could use a cordless drill with a 3" backing plate attachment plus a pad these would do the job and its a cheap and effective fix, stick it in the chuck and slowly does it ideal for bumpers Screenshot_20180831-065627.png
